idk i think he sees the field and I am certain the game is not moving too fast for him. he makes some retarded ass throws sometimes but look around the league, aside from 8 or 9 guys everyone makes a brainless read at least once a game.

his problem seems to be all in his arm to me. he just is not making the throws, and since I saw him make some of these exact throws last year I am inclined to believe he is either hurt (no indication at all this is the case) or something mental is going on with him.

I wonder about his arm, too. He just isn't delivering the ball like he did last year.

He seems to be making more sidearm throws lately.

At this point I think it’s just lack of experience, new possibly over complicated offense, and the fact he doesn’t throw a nice deep ball. The 1st 2 can evolve over time, but for me I’ve noticed that guys who have touch with deep passes show it and are consistent with it from the get go. Coming out of college there were questions about his deep ball -I just think it is what it is. He’s being asked to do a lot more this year than last year and it’s showing, he’s thinking way too much. His release kind of reveals that imo because Mitch actually does have a decently quick release.. but this year it’s different. I think that’s indecision.

We should start seeing some consistent progress outside of the opening series in the next 3 or 4 weeks. We should have an idea of where he's headed by the end of the year.

I don't think, though, that is a function of his arm strength. I just think that he doesn't set his feet adequately on the deep throws. He, to me, can wing it well on a dime on the intermediate routes.

I just dont see how he's thinking too much. They get to the line, they snap the ball and he doesn't dawdle around much in the backfield deliberating. If there's pressure he evades, which is what you want him to do, but if he has time he goes through his reads and then (attempts to) throw the ball. He has that look at abject terror in his eyes sometimes but it doesn't seem to have affected his decision making, or at least yet.

Aside from a handful of plays that are being blown way of proportion by Bears fans and the media there has not been a lot of bad reads. As far as timing goes? Almost perfect. He releases the ball quickly and at the right moment.

You just dont really know where the ball is going, especially past 10 yards. Odds are its sailing way over everyone's head but sometimes he's short, sometimes he's wide to the right, sometimes he's wide to the left...its a bit of a crapshoot. Its kind of odd because the one statistic Mitch is doing quite well in is completion percentage, he's 9th in the NFL in that stat. So you'd think he's been accurate but really Nagy has been babying him with short and easy throws to Allen Robinson on slants and out-routes, which to his credit (Pro Bowl QB) Trubisky seems very adept at hitting. He has had as many fluke turnovers as he's had interceptions dropped, so we'll say that cancels itself out.

But when he tries to fade his WR in the end zone its hilarious. The ball is ludicrously overthrown. I almost want to laugh. He has hit a handful of deep throws, but he's successful in that regard the same way bomber command was successful in the war. If you throw it everywhere it'll eventually land where you want it to.

None of this indicates to me that he's overthinking or that the game is moving to fast for him. I think he is afraid of failing, and they should consider getting him a sports psychologist to maybe work through some of this stuff.

His completion % is high because 30% of his throws are 2 yards or less.

I heard that stat today, 22% being behind the line of scrimmage and 30% 2 yards or less.. Pathetic.

The chart that I saw was that 17 of his 24 completions were within 5 yards of the line of scrimmage or behind it.

Mitch has weird facial hair.

The mustache doesn't connect to the beard.

The beard has weird reverse-mohawk breaks in it.

It's all a bit thin in parts.

He needs to get that together.

Now that he has the looking like Drew Brees part down I think Nagy will let him work on the ancillary parts of his game like that.

Just heard someone say he's not Mitch (Pro Bowl QB) Trubisky, he's Mitch TruSixsky.

The universe sucks.

TBD when he doesn't face the worst defense in the NFL. The first three weeks he faced run of the mill bad defenses and looked like dogshit.

I think he's good enough to be average which is good enough to make them a contender but that's not decided yet.

Tampa has some talented dudes. Still a bad defense obviously but maybe not the NFL's absolute worst. They are certainly in the same tier as the Cardinals and (Pro Bowl QB) Trubisky looked like butt in AZ, so either (Pro Bowl QB) Trubisky loves himself some Soldier Field or he is getting better.

Or the spirit of god got into him and he just put one up for the ages. The Phil Humber of QB's.

Cardinals D looks like world beaters compared to TB's. And to be clear, AZ's defense sucks.

It's ok to admit TB has the worst defense in the league. They were on the short list going into today and then made sure there was no doubt about it.

Still think Mitch will be alright and this team is very good but let's call it what it is.

AZ did look decent against Seattle too. Idk, Tampa's secondary is absolutely horrible. Their defensive line can do stuff but it doesnt really matter.

Lol their D line is fuckin atrocious too. They have Kwon Alexander and 10 garbage players. We can still be impressed by what Mitch did and also acknowledge the obvious.

Still need to see consistency and further growth from him.

Definitely. It helps his confidence for starters and appears he is finding chemistry with the new receivers.

Even if the TB defense sucks, you are supposed to thump teams like that. Like a tub.

And they scored 40 in about a quarter and a half. So, looked good to me.

Exactly. And you also do not need to make some long range extrapolation from it. Enjoy this week and the bye and hope for more going forward.

It's really that simple. Unfortunately MANY are miserable when they can't complain.
