What is Phil talking about in asking for a "stroke a side" from Tiger' for their match?

He wants Tiger to give him a stroke for each 9 holes played?

Never heard that before in golf vernacular, but I don't wager on golf.

It's very common when playing a match against someone else. Usually based on handicap so you can match two people against each other really
no matter what their skill level to even the sides. Obviously it won't happen but if Tiger were to give Phil a stroke on each side, he would take those
strokes on the #1 and #2 handicap holes, the most difficult on each nine. Phil is saying that because he is playing like garbage and Tiger is playing
well lately, also to keep the match in the press.

Phil wants Tiger to stroke him off once on the front nine, and once on the back nine.

Is Phil really asking for strokes? if so that would be one of the biggest bitch moves a pro has ever made.

This is the same guy who had clubhouse guys come out and move the up tees closer to the tips when he was playing a match vs an amateur double digit handicap guy who insisted on playing up a box.

I'm pretty sure he is joking. Not sure if he thinks it is funny or that he is playing some kind of psychological gamesmanship but to me it indicates
he is a bit worried about getting embarrassed.
