Last wild card pick? Might be Finau. He hits the ball great but I have seen a lot of struggles from him with the short game and putting.
Not sure he is quite ready for this challenge.

Friday 4 ball pairings:

Koepka/Finau vs Rose/Rahm
DJ/Rickie vs Rory/Oleson
Spieth/Thomas vs Casey/Hatten
Tiger/Reed vs Molinari/Fleetwood

Interesting they broke up Spieth/Reed combo that was so successful last time. Huge mismatch in favor of US in those two middle pairings.

IMO, US has a huge advantage in all of those matchups outside of the Rose & Rahm pairing. And even that one is pretty close.

How is Tiger/Reed a huge advantage over Molinari/Fleetwood? U just going on reputation?

Two veterans, one of which (Reed) has a stellar record, vs a rookie and a guy with zero career Ryder Cup points is an advantage to the USA. Both have had very good seasons, but the Ryder Cup is a different animal.

Good point, I didn't think about the RC history angle. Was just thinking about who was playing well in the past couple months.

I see Fleetwood performing well in the Ryder Cup.

Day off tomorrow.

Golf at 2 AM. 8)

Watched from 4 - 6:15 this morning. USA was in charge, than Euros came back and at the end the USA just played with fewer mistakes.
Lots of chip ins. I had to go to work but Tiger and Reed were pooping their pants so I suspect they will lose or at best halve. Nice start for
USA though. Looks like a tough course and the wind supposed to pick up this afternoon.

3-1 is a great morning for the US. Early in the second groupings, but lot of blue on the board so far. DJ & Rickie really off to a poor start. Would love to see the US go no worse than 2-2 this afternoon.

Yeah. Mickelson & DeChambeau getting slaughtered.

Looks like 1.5 points for the US might be a miracle at this point.

Bubba & Simpson got one, then gave it right back. DJ & Rickie trying to make a game of it on the back 9.

All started with Tiger losing in the morning. Negative momentum killed Americans.

2:55 a.m.: Jordan Spieth and Justin Thomas vs. Ian Poulter and Jon Rahm

IMO, pretty stupid to put Tiger back out there as he is now 3-9 in his twelve career Fourball matches.

It's natural to travel to Europe and feel bad for a few days. You're fatigued and out of sorts with your body clock. The yanks should have got there a week ahead of time.

I personally hate the afternoon flights to Europe and prefer the morning ones. You get there in the evening, rather than the following morning, and go to sleep around midnight. You're in much better shape the next day.

Reed is hot garbage today. Americans not hitting fairways and this rough is brutal. Koepka just hit 2 iron- 2-iron into a 600 yard par 5. That's insane.

Kind of miss the shot tracer technology during the rounds. On the other hand I don't mind the cleaner, classic look of the broadcast where you depend on watching players body language and some on course announcing.

Finau looking a little scared. Just missed a 6 footer for a halve and he didn't even hit the hole. Was worried about his putting when he was picked. Somehow the US needs to salvage a point in the morning.
