The Bears have a great defense, but Mitch allows teams to hang around. I was looking at the schedule and I think this is a 6-10 team, 8-8 at best. Teams with good QB's with decent support around them (unlike Seattle) will have multiple ways to win if Mitch doesn't start finishing teams off. Here are my predictions the rest of the way:


Tampa - Loss
Miami - Loss
New England - Loss
Jets - Win
Buffalo - Win
Detroit - Win
Minnesota - Loss
Detroit - Loss
Giants - Loss
Rams - Loss
Green Bay - Loss
SF - Win
Minnesota - Loss

Seattle lost two very rough road games and people buried them. They dont suck.

The notion that a team that has truly a great defense is only going to win 6 games is hilarious. This is right now at least an 8-8 team with the possibility of going 10-6 a real one. This is a team on the rise. They have talent on offense with a solid running game and an up and coming quarterback. Hopefully (Pro Bowl QB) Trubisky will continue to grow as a quarterback and when he does this team will take off.

I've said it before:

The national media is a bit too easy on Mitch but the local opinions are WAY too hard on him.

The national media is way more brutal on him. Every podcast I listen to absolutely eviscerates him.

A lot of the podcasts I listen to are preaching patience saying there have been things to be encouraged with.

In general you're not gonna get good analysis from TV and radio. You need to start listening to podcasts that dive into specifics if you want a more informed idea of what's happening.

Its Chris Simms, but Chris Simms has his personal things that sometimes cloud his judgment and he did get mad at Nagy for "selling out" (Pro Bowl QB) Trubisky so maybe he feels obligated to defend him.

You're not wrong. He's arguably number 32 in the league right now out of starters.

If he doesn't produce good numbers this week the concern should upgrade to panic. Bears offense has plus matchups literally everywhere.

And QB play can be difficult to evaluate. Its good to hear opinions from people who have played and coached the positions. A lot of guys who have figured it out have shown indications of their breakouts that are not apparent in a stat sheet or from a fan's TV broadcast eye.

For instance how can you tell if an OL is playing poorly or a DL is playing well? Sometimes its obvious, a lot of times its not.

Arguably. But I could make just as a good case for Watson (you wont admit this), Dak, Bortles or Darnold.

Bortles you can't. It might take Mitch five more years to throw for 370 yards and 4 TDs in a game.

All the guys you named arnet good so far but Mitch has shown far less than any of them at this level.

I'm fine taking Bortles over Mitch to win a game right now. It wouldn't even be a hard decision. I don't disagree with your post though.

Maybe. I don't know how you can say that with ant confidence.

I do think Darnold will end up significantly better than Mitch tho. Not sure on Rosen and Dak is mediocre. The next Tyrod. He'll be around in 2026. Mitch could easily be an ACC gameday analyst at that point.

Not even close. Watson's been bad but he's not been "might be worst in the league bad" like you keep saying. Mitch has been. Watson can still hit throws over 5 yards and is trusted to at least attempt them. His line isn't just bad, it's encroaching on historically bad through almost 1/4 of the season.

Watson's arm is done. I dont think he can throw it 40+ yards in the air.

Nah Mitch can physically throw it pretty far he just no idea where it will go.

Watson is like Luck, he just cant put any raw distance on his throws.

Not sure how to argue this except to say it's just not reality. Watson can throw it further than Mitch and more importantly, can hit 15 yard out routes. Mitch can't. it's handicapping Nagy since D coordinators know that he cant hit that route and they can move their safeties wherever they want comfortably.
