Not that it means a damn thing when the offense is this bad, but Nick Swisher's center field instincts are not major league quality.

I don't know. He gets good jumps. Yeah, he air mailed that throw for no reason. First time he's done that all year. He's been solid most of the year. Not great speed but not awful. He's better at the corners but he's not horrible in center.

I've come around a bit on Quentin and think he's a decent left fielder and when you add an above average arm, he's even better. But when Quentin dove for that ball and Swisher wasn't even close to backing him up...WTF?!? It's the basics...just like the bad throw. I like Swisher, but I have higher standards for the defensive abilities of the key positions up the middle. If he can't do it in the field I have no problem replacing him.

Oh, and his speed is below average which could be OK... but not with Dye (no speed) on one side and Quentin (average speed) on the other

Fucking Dye. He got a hanger and popped it up. That should have been a 3-run homer.

Hernandez is such a junk baller, even his hangers have hitters off balance.
He hung a 65 MPH curve and Dye was looking for 71 MPH. The Sox always have trouble with junk ballers.

Still, they're trying to pull everything. Thome hit a couple hard the other way. One for a hit. Quentin lined out the other way. Why can't the other Sox guys see that?

I'm sick of giving the other pitcher credit. You gotta hit tough pitchers a little more than the Sox have.

You're right, Beardown. You definitely need to stay back on Hernandez. Guys get to anxious because he doesn't throw hard. He is a pitcher not a thrower.

I'm almost happy to see us lose this way if we have to lose.

We've lost too many where the starters were great. At least Buehrle deserved this loss.

Even on the 84 mph fastball to Swisher he's way ahead.... that's as hard as he's been throwing all day how can you still be ahead that much?

When a guy has almost 20 MPH difference from his off-speed to his fastball, some hitters can't or refuse to adjust and just keep swinging for the fences. You can't swing from the heels against junk ballers. You need to stay back and try to hit line drives. Most of the Sox have not done that tonight.

You're right. It's an ego thing. They see that slow shit, they see it well, so they try to yank it. Like you said, he changes speeds so they can't square it. He' pitching to contact cuz he knows they can't square it. He loves big swingers.

What a goddam waste of time that was. Sit thru 2+ hours of a rain delay to watch that horseshit offense.

Did have a short chat with Mac, and saw Coppock running around on the concourse too. He looked like he was on the olympic ski team. Between the hair and that terribly loud red jacket, he was hard to miss.

I sure hope Chet kept his pants on.

Dye timed that one correctly Mr. Reason. Same pitch he popped up earlier.

Gotta love Hawk. Made an exciting HR call in a 13-1 game.

I can't follow the game on the radio today.

Keep me updated if somebody is watching or listening. Please.

I'm online only for this one as well, but Ozzie has Alexi leading off. You talk about totally grabbing at straws to try and get some offense going..

White Sox Winner!!!!

Danks - 2 runs in 5 innings. Gets a win without a quality start. Payback for him. They took the lead in the bottom of the 5th for him. Good.

One game out of first. Off to Seattle. Mariners aren't playing that well.

Getting tired of:

- Paulie
- Thome
- Swisher
- Crede
- Lead off walks
- First pitch balls
- Swinging at the first pitch
- Swinging for the fences
- Not stealing

Have I missed anything?
