Took about 16 minutes for Pat Foley to start selling Cam Ward up the river. "Between this and his preseason, you're not gonna win anything with this kind of...goaltending." And he has a no-move clause!

Foley was crabby about the start of the game being delayed

Why the fuck would Stan give him a no-move clause? Couldn't they just give it to the kid Delia if they're going to suck this badly?

Yeah, how dare the Senators honor a kid who had some horrific disease. Have another drink, Pat.

Pat just gave Ward some love.

I think I'm going to buy seasons 2008-2016 and watch them on a loop.

I really miss watching them when they were a young team and I really miss watching Hossa.

No reason Hawks should've needed OT to take one against dreadful Ottawa. So many neutral zone and own zone turnovers...

Jesus, just take the two points. There's a long road ahead.

They shut them out after the terrible 1st. I'll take it. Any pts with Ward in goal I'm happy about. They can bury Kunitz tomorrow though. I'd rather have some one learn on the job than have him.

Far superior Toronto needed overtime to put away equally awful Montreal, guess that's hockey (baby). You're not wrong about the turnovers, though. This fourth line in particular, even with Kruger back, looks dreadful. Sikura flunked his training camp and lost his spot to both Andreas Martinsen and Luke Johnson, which is not ideal. They top out at tweener and AHL All-Star, respectively, but tonight that line didn't look like they belonged in pro hockey at all.

I'm just trying to remind myself that the roster will not stay intact all year. Kunitz, as mentioned above, looked dire.

He looked good! The hope for him should be about a .750 pace, or ~60 points.

To me, he looks like a backup at best

Looked scared shitless when I saw him live in Rockford, but I think that was either his first or second game up from ECHL Indianapolis, so you can't blame him. Once he settled in, he was a big part of Rockford going deep in the playoffs. I would hope that he'll get enough flight miles in the AHL this year that he can become a capable backup or 1A (which Crawford has always needed, whether Emery, Raanta, or Darling) by the end of this year or beginning of next, but I wouldn't bet on him being a bona fide #1 on a good team.

He did look rejuvenated tonight. The blue line is still hot garbage and Ward of course is crap, but I'd still love to see Toews bounce back

Q's assessment of him was "excellent" and "tremendous game." High praise from Q

Toews Holmstrom all of a sudden, just sorta punches a mid-air puck into the net for his fifth goal.

Hm, Cam Ward blew a two-goal lead in like a minute. I don't trust Ward to play all three games of a three-in-four. I don't even trust him to play a one-in-hundred. Put Delia in at 3.

Of course it can get worse than Cam .... though not necessarily or perhaps not a whole lot so.

Forsberg. Delia was sent down.
