Anyone going to that My Bloody Valentine show at the Aragon?

Does anyone care?

Maybe I'd be more excited if they did something crazy like release an album.

Very touchy subject.
IIRC, the last time they played in Chicago was in 92 or 93 at Metro, with Buffalo Tom as the opener. My girlfriend at the time lied to me (she lied a lot) and said that tix were sold out. (She worked at an indie record store so I believed her, no interweb for me way back then). She then proceeded to get 2 tix for herself and took her friend Lisa because Lisa really liked that "Taillights Fade" song by Buffalo Tom.

Those fuckers didn't even stay for MBV. Not even one song. I should have been there. That Bee-otch !

:x :(

This morning at 11:14, 3 tickets and $152.30 later......can't wait.... and
Swervedriver at Metro on 6-14 -this will be the summer of glorious noise!!!!

i would be very interested in a Telescopes or Slowdive reunion.
i was going to buy MBV tickets and put them in a manila folder with a post-it on the front that reads: "short-term investment portfolio" but decided against it. i hope, for everyone's sake, that it's awesome, but i can't say i'm too excited to see the "Nirvana of shoegaze" (not my quote) in 2008, especially with what a sketchy dude kevin shields is... i guess i just don't trust it, and i don't like enough of either of their albums to be super into it.

$.02, but in no way do i intend to hold that i am "correct" about any of this.. diff'rent strokes fer diff'rent fokes.

looks like all the US shows still have tickets available. kind of surprising considering the size of venues (5000 cap. give or take) .... have people really forgotten?? prices? I, for one can't wait!!!!!!!!!!!

http://stereogum.com/archives/video/mbv ... 17541.html

I couldn't watch this without getting a little teary eyed.
This is one of my top 5 favorite songs ever, and I am counting down the days til 9/27.

In terms of being a DJ, I hope you are more like Terri Hemmert and less like Steve Aoki.
I just don't know shit about you to assume yr an asshole who gets BJ's and Sparks
for free for playing other peoples' music on a laptop and pretending yr the star. So I won't.
Like you said upthread, you didn't really dig their 2 records, so you won't be missing out.

i would say i'm like neither... i spin vinyls (primarily techno) and i've never received a beej behind the decks. i do not address the crowd through a PA (i.e. "YEAHHHHH, SOULJA BOY! GOOD STUFF! WHO'S HAVING A GOOD TIME? LEMME HEAR YA! WE GOT [FASHION SHOW/SPEED DATING/BAGS TOURNEY] COMIN' UP NEXT! DON'T LEAVE THAT DANCE FLOOR!") and only play at house parties or clubs.

as far as the show goes, i had really siked myself up for it, especially after seeing that video. i had come around to looking forward to go, and now i'm not. :bom:

I just called Aragon's box office to ask if MBV had an opener, and the dude told me that Soulja Boy was performing pre- and post- MBV on 9-27.
Crank that, indeed.
Can't wait.
Superman fin'a make it rain.
