Goff tweeted tonight that he's not a lock for the HOF.

Ok. Breese is white. That's why Goff thinks he's not a HOFer. Got it. He's just trolling. Eventually Goff won't be in media. He'll be working with drinky's vitamin company.

Why the love for Staubach? I probably leave him, Tarkenton and Bradshaw off and add Favre and Breese.

Hell, I'd put Warren Moon above Staubach.

"Only" winning one title invites top ten doubt.

Only by the stupid.

Otto Graham
John Unitas (If history is to be believed)
Fran Tarkenton
Dan Marino (despite no rings)
Roger Staubach
Joe Montana
John Elway
Tom Brady
Aaron Rodgers
Steve Young (despite only one ring)
Peyton Manning
And maybe even Bradshaw.

Johnny U and Bradshaw yes Francis and Roger I'll have to think about

Correct and he may be better than Rodgers right now. I may have been wrong there.

I'd take Brees over Manning, Elway too over Manning.

Brady
Montana
Elway
Brees
Rodgers

Bradshaw isn't even top 30

It's interesting to think what happens to his career if he either stays in San Diego, or goes to Miami instead.

It's still tough to think that the Bears weren't interested in Brees in free agency because they were putting their faith in Rex Grossman.

Rodgers is 30,000+ yards behind and has had two seasons (so far) where he has started single digit games. Brees has started 254 of the last 261 games. IMO Rodgers isn't going to play long enough or win enough to be better. He has had some better seasons, but Brees has had the better career thus far.

Interesting debate.
I'd say Brees is the better passer and will end his career with better overall numbers. Rodgers, though.....that dude has put multiple teams of meh rosters on his shoulders and carried them to the playoffs.

Because of the rules and the way defense is played, you literally are given 5-7 passing yards, free of charge every play. I don't think total passing yards has any value as a metric to be honest. Passing touchdowns? Yes. If they let that little shit stain Phillip Rivers in the HOF, that will be a travesty.

Rpb was talking who's better right now.

Career debate is pretty simple. Just comes down to if you value longevity or dominance more.

Tom Brady played in parts of both eras. Favre played most of his career in the more difficult era. That maked his numbers more impressive than Brees.

Rivers will retire with over 400 TD, that's pretty damn impressive.

Farve also played in the weather, Manning and Brees played in domes.

tom brady has played in exactly the same era brees has. they were drafted 1 year apart, and both have been starters for about the same amount of time.

Not saying he is top 5 or anything, but Tarkenton was a great player and held that career passing yards record for a long time until all the modern video-game quarterbacks came into the league. He was durable as hell, especially with all the running and scrambling and hits he took. He bridged the gap between the old-school and the new-school era of QB. There isnt any universe where he wasnt a better player than Terry Bradshaw and Roger Staubach or any other QB's of that era. Hard to say how those old-timers would have played in this new age, but Tarkenton HAS to be regarded as the best of that era. Granted he didn't get the Super Bowl wins, but from a player performance standpoint his career stacks up with all those old guys.

Brady has 12 Super Bowl wins. There really is no comparison between them.

Both have one ring and MANY playoff losses. Outside of the context of a single game, 'dominant' would not be a word to describe either guy.

you just said that the era that brees is playing in where QB's don't get hurt takes a player down a few notches. tom brady is in that same era. and tom brady is the biggest reason we have these QB rules.

12 super bowls, huh? i must've missed a few.

Yeah that's just stupid and not a view that's held among unbiased people.

For a few years Rodgers played the position better than anyone in history and the numbers back that up.

As long as Bob Griese still has a bust in Canton, lets face it, ALL of these guys belong. You set the bar that low that long ago and you end up with a Hall of Everybody when it comes to QB.

In a vey QB friendly era. Brady's first season with Moss was the best of this soft era.

If I had one game and could pick any QB in their prime, I'd have to strongly consider Rodgers.
