Kap works the phones as soon as he gets off the air!

He said he was talking to a reliable source who said Kris Bryant turned down a big extension. The Cubs could trade him for Jacob deGrom and then sign Manny Machado.

I wouldn't trust Mets pitching. Unless they think Bryant is done I wouldn't make that deal.

Will be interesting to see where his arbitration number comes in at.

Does he have a dog named Wrigley?

Yup. This will likely happen with Eloy among MANY others as well.

Question...Why would the Cubs offer Bryant an extension now (or earlier this season)? Wouldn't they want to make sure his shoulder his 100% for the next several years before they do that? Of course, Theo signs pitchers with a bunch of shoulder issues so maybe that sort of stuff doesn't matter to him.

Astros do it too.

These will be hard negotiations. Fucking him on service time is going to come around and bite them (the Sox doing this with Eloy is going to get them in a similar way) a bit here but the Cubs have the money and Bryant is their poster boy. He's not going to walk.

They are trying to get him cheap which is why he's saying no way.

Heyman reported last year that Bryant turned down an extension then.

He's not gonna sign one. Boras guys go to FA.

Boras tends to not do that. Cubs did it with Rizzo. Castro too I think.

Boras will agree when the terms of the Cubs offers are within some predetermined range of what Boras is pretty sure Bryant gets on the open market. Theo wants a nice pretty undervalued contract on his mantle, he's not getting that with Bryant.

If the Sox are smart they are looking at this and thinking that maybe Eloy should be starting on opening day.

I can see him just guess as he had a hurt/down year the Cubs might try to entice him to extend.

Kap is a blowhard fanboy, but he has also been around long enough to have some sources here and there.

If Bryant is butthurt ( Which I doubt ) about service time then he needs to take it up with his fucking union for allowing the loophole not management for using it . He’s going to be a bazillionaire regardless. . I’d have no issues trading him for a haul.

Hey there Bubbles, just got off the phone with my guy Jed and he said that KB is none too pleased...Theo and I were talking about trying to woo KB back at the Pearl Jam show...asked EdVed what we should do, and he told us to go full court press...So Mindy and I took KB and the lovely Jessica out for a night on the town in the 'vette. FULL. COURT. PRESS. Dinner at Harry's, hanging with Frankie O. Drinks at 312 Chicago. A trip to Hamilton. Late night Lou's snack. Dropped them off at the Casa de Bryant thinking we were good to go. Sent them home with some Shari's Berries and a My Pillow 2.0 for each of them. Ce la vie...I guess we'll have to make sure Mindy sends some Lou's to them when they move on to Washington. Let's get Bob-o here hooked up with a Snuggie for his troubles today.

Back to the phones.

Why wouldn't he hold it against the Cubs? He can blame the union all he wants but the Cubs made a business decision and so will he.

Because the idea of “ I would be signing an extension right now but you guys fucked me on my service time “ is ridiculous . He’d be taking the same stance regardless whether they did that or not. He’d be making the same “ business decision “ .

Not exactly. There are plenty of players who forgo the maximum money they could make for a lot of reasons. If I were Bryant I would give that type of discount no thought based on how the Cubs already took a discount on his services.

Cubs don't want to pay his arbitration figure and are probably wart of how messy it could get in Bryant chooses not to settle. They went through it with Arrieta.

My Pillow is an awful product, Kap Man. Possibly the worst pillow ever manufactured!

I'm hearing that Bryant and Harper are going to work one year deals until MLB expands to Vegas and they will go home to be managed by the Maddux brothers.
