I am telling you that Reinsdorf wanted no part of D'Antoni.

He scheduled a meeting for today (SUNDAY) in Phoenix to talk about the position. He was well aware that D'Antoni would have an offer by then and he would not be in the position to outbid the Knicks.

Reinsdorf has done this before. When he had to do Kenny Williams job and hire Ozzie as oppossed to Cito Gaston. Thus I give kenny little credit for 2005 and Ozzie's influence, but I digress.

Jerry R. has hired and fired more professional managers and coaches than probably any person on the face of the planet, so if he didn't want D'Antoni he must have some very good reasons.

I always go back to Jerry saying that he isnt involved with the GM's decisions, but yet, he is always involved, makes one wonder what the real story is.

I didn't want any part of D'Antoney either. He rode coattails of Nash and Stoudemire. Bulls don't have anyone like that.

The Bulls now say they like him, and wanted to offer him a contract. Under Paxson, though, (and maybe this particular incident should be on Reinsdorf), they never seem to have the urgency to go out, and make a splash. Why did it take 3 interviews, and then until Sunday to make a contract offer ? They were too slow to react to the situation, and the Knicks made the decision easy for him.

This is how Jerry does things. I am not saying it is bad, this is just how he operates.

If you remember the Mags issue. He claims he left the offer on the table even when they knew about the knee injury.

They did leave an offer on the table, but the one that he did not accept or want that paid him year 5, as an annuity over 20 years.

He does things so he can say he did it, or in this case made the offer and he went elsewhere.

Quite frankly, I think Jerry Reinsdorf doesn't want to get literally burned like what happened with Scott Skiles and the fact he owes the new Milwaukee Bucks' head coach $4 million. Eventually, there will be a new head coach, and he'll earn less than $5 million a year. Forget about Avery Johnson, folks. The former Dallas Mavericks' head coach is likely headed to television for a year or two if he doesn't land in Phoenix or even Atlanta for that matter. The Hawks might suddenly have an opening after their General Manager suddenly resigned last week. Despite taking the Boston Celtics to Game 7 of the NBA Playoffs, head coach Mike Woodson might be on borrowed time down in Atlanta. Speaking of the Celtics, assistant Tom Thibodeaux is defensive-minded, but lacks head coaching experience. Tom might be the only true fit for what Reinsdorf is looking for, and would work within Jerry's budget. If not, Reinsdorf should give John Paxson himself the chance to coach this sorry team. After all, GM Pax drafted & traded for these players...

Regardless of who coaches the Bulls next year, I do not see them being any higher than a 7 seed and losing in the first round of the playoffs.

Are those 1st degree or 2nd degree burns?

Paxson has made some comments after the season that already scared me about how it's difficult to remake the roster because of contracts, meeting other teams needs, etc.

I'm willing though to see what he does (or doesn't do).

If come Halloween the roster looks anything like what it does now, I will stand staunch with that prediction.

DDD, most times this is the case, but the Bulls and Skiles had a different deal. The Bulls owe him money, but he agreed to spread it out over a period of time.

Agree, that if Reinsdorf wanted him they would have talked. Reinsdorf loves playing the Martyr.
