This is the best holiday...

Used to love going to the bar for the Halloween parties to check out the slutty nurses and shit.

Now, we drink beer while walking around the neighborhood with the kids, and pilfer the shit we like out of their trick or treat bags....

win/win

DW is giving out those tiny bottles of wine to the moms tonight. Last year we offered candy or glow bracelets. Although I was willing to gicmve both to a kid most shockingly chose the glow bracelet.
This year we've got some kind of flashy ring thing from amazon. Just a ring, some look like bats or black cats or whatever and they light up and flash and give kids epilepsy.

When did people start trick or treating on days other than Halloween?

First time I saw it was out here. One town did it on Thursday the 30th to not interfere with Friday night football. In some ways makes sense but the thought of s bunch of sugar zombies on Friday morning during school vs doing it on s Saturday made me wonder about priorities in life. Whatever.

My wife gives out a Fun Dip and a piece of candy to all the kids. Then we switch off so she can meander the neighborhood and talk to people, and I give out a Fun Dip and a handful of candy so I don't have to spend the next six month staring at a bowl full of Smarties (because I already ate the Snickers and Reese's cups). Smarties are the fucking worst.

Gurnee seemingly has for as long as I've lived there.

Not gonna lie...it works better because I don't have to leave work early and burn vacation time to get home to avoid my house getting egged.

Plus I can get kinda drunk and not have to deal with work on Sunday.

I hate to shit on other people's joy and I seem to be in the minority but this new trend of drinking while taking your kid trick or treating is, to put it kindly, ill advised.

As long as you are done driving for the day/night, who cares? What is the issue? I mean, don't get fall down drunk, but nothing wrong with a little Jack n Coke in the red cup as you walk around the block.

I think it sets a bad example for children when every moment has to be accompanied by alcohol for one issue.

I assume you refrain from any type of drinking when you attend sporting events with your kids.

I think having a couple of beers at a ballgame is a little different than having a 6 pack in the wagon while walking your kids around on Halloween.

The ballgame is worse. Assuming you drove and didn't take public transportation.

We have moved to full sized candy bars this year. So we have become that house.

There is no difference. Either you are ok with drinking in front of kids or not.

So having a glass of wine with Christmas dinner is the same thing as the "Jack n Coke in the red cup as you walk around the block"?

What do you see as the main difference?

If you can't see the difference between a cocktail while sitting down during a special holiday meal and a red solo cup with booze while trick or treating, then you are beyond help.

Agree with gd.

Having a couple cold ones on your trick or treating trail is not a bad thing on it's own, but if you're trying to squeeze booze into every activity...including ones that are mostly aimed at kids...probably not a great idea.

With that said, I sat in the bar last Saturday at Dave and Busters while my daughter and her friend played games so I have no room to criticize.

It's cute the guy that dressed up as Drew Peterson and mocked a dead woman is trying lecture people from a moral high ground about drinking alcohol on Halloween.

Use this opportunity to teach your kids about taxation. Take 35% of all candy from their Trick'or'Treat bags!

Continue with your hypocrisy. Are you dressing up as Janay Palmer this year?

Are you really not smart enough to see the difference between drinking beer while taking your kids trick or treating and having a glass of wine with Christmas dinner?

Yet neither you nor Frank think twice about exposing your kids to White Sox baseball?

As long as you drink in moderation(as in everything), and don't become inebriated, there is literally no difference. I seriously asked you to point it out, what the big difference is, which you refused to. I am assuming you have realized it was a mistake to take the hill on this dumb ass argument to begin with.

This doesn't answer the question posed to you;
Frank Coztansa wrote:

Can you explain the difference or not?

The difference is you are outdoors while your children observe you consuming alcohol vs indoors. Neither is an issue provided you don't become intoxicated and set a bad example. Thanks for playing Drew.
