The finalists for the year end awards were announced today and there are a couple surprises.

Chris Sale is not a finalist for the AL Cy Young Award (Verlander, Kluber, Snell)

JD Martinez is not a finalist for AL MVP (Betts, Ramirez, Trout)

Joe Maddon is not a finalist for NL Manager of the Year (Counsell, Black Snitker) despite the human lapdog Bruce Levineline’s vote. That one is not a surprise.

It is a shame Sale just didn't have the IPs this year. Currently the guy has the highest career K/9 rate and K/BB ratio ever to have played in MLB and he still doesn't have that award yet.

He has the award for most jerseys cut up in a tantrum.

ROY gets announced today. Both will be very close.

NL: I think Acuna wins but Soto’s .406 obp as a rookie is really damn incredible.

AL: Andujar and Torres split the vote so Ohtani will probably win. Andujar’s 76 extra base hits is also really damn incredible

Yeah, Maddon deserved no manager of the year votes.

Cy Young today. DeGrom should be the runaway winner in the NL. The AL should be a little closer. I think it should be Snell but it wouldn’t surprise me if Verlander wins. Either way the Misses will have something cunty to say about it.

As long as she does it in a bikini, many will listen to her every word.

Snell wins in a close one and DeGrom wins in a laugher. He received 29 of 30 first place votes. Well done voters. Well done.

MVP today. Should be an easy one with the Mook Man and Yelich taking home the hardware.

"His string of 29 consecutive starts allowing three earned runs or less, a streak that began in mid-April and is still active, is the longest in MLB history."

Nice stat.

Dude had an incredible season. Did you see the announcement ceremony. The presenter said “Jacob DeGrom got more support from the sportswriters than he got from his teammates.” That’s great.

Mook and Yelich in easy wins. Mook got 28-30 1st place votes and Yelich 29-30 with the other vote going to DeGrom. Ha

Trout (Texas writer) and JD Martinez (Minn writer) got 1st place votes. A writer in Arizona gave DeGrom a 1st place vote.

6 position players in the history of baseball have a WAR of 35 or more in their first 5 seasons:

Ted Williams 45.1
Albert Pujols 37.6
Mike Trout 37.0
Mookie Betts 35.2
Jackie Robinson 35.2
Wade Boggs 35.1

Did Addison Russell or Contreras win MVP this year or is that something still in Len Kasper's future list?
