1982.

Eddie Murphy really was fantastic. What a talent. I mean, he's good as Donkey, but there are some things untapped there.

Nick Nolte still looked like a human.

It was definitely a different time in terms of the language/casual slang that could be used.

And, early Jonathan Banks, Mike from Breaking Bad. Weird to see him as a young guy. He's also in Airplane and the traffic controller checking the "Radar-Range".

Haven't seen this in probably 30 years but still a pretty fun movie.

It’s been about 30 yrs for me, too or is it #metoo? In any event, I may have to check it out just to see how it holds up. Same for Beverly Hills Cop. It’s been about that long for that one, too.

Eddie was the man back in the day. This helped boost his career when he reached his peak in the mid 80s. Nolte was good too , actually normal.

Wasn't there a gal with a nice pair of tits in that movie too? That is probably the only thing I remember about the movie these days.

I haven't seen BHC in about that either but I'm almost certain it holds up.

48 HRS does hold up. Good movie. Just striking that it could never be made today.

Or, if it was, it would not be a comedy and would probably win an Oscar for being so edgy.

If you remember it, I’ll go with 20 years ago.

Was this the origin of the Police Chief that yelled at everyone unnecessarily and particularly too loud?

I'd always listen to the Breaking Bad Insider podcast with Vince Gilligan. When they were casting Mike, they had actors send in videos.

Vince saw Banks' video submission and went crazy that Banks wanted the part and sent in a submission. He said "that's Jonathan Banks from Wiseguy!".

It's funnier when he tells the story but I always got a kick out of it.

you guys remember this show on Channel 7 / ABC called Sledge Hammer back in the 80s? It was like a comedy cop show. I really liked it but nobody talks about it much.

Starsky & Hutch had one in the mid seventies.

The Rockford Files had one, too. Or maybe it was a Lieutenant. Regardless, it was the 70s.

Are you confusing him with Garey Busey?

Because Nick Nolte now just looks like an old, grizzled version of the younger Nick Nolte.

Young squirrel and his brother enjoyed that show. Pretty much a satire and I’m pretty sure that sent over my head as a pre teen. I think the last episode involved him defusing (and failing) an atomic bomb.

Need 4 seasons or 80-100 episodes for most part. Sledge lasted 2 seasons only.

I used to watch the shit out of both that show and also 'Sidekicks', the one with the kid karate guy named Ernie who later did MMA I think.

Great movie. I met James Remar at one of my Aunts swanky desert receptions. She is married to Ed Wahl of the hair clipper empire. Nice guy.

Both of these were just on. They over do the body flying backwards when shot thing. Way over done. It's a thing that makes me nuts in movies.

This is a strong #2 behind Beverly Hills Cop if we’re talking about the quintessential Eddie Murphy movie.

And I’ve probably seen it like 100 times, it’s one of those flicks where you get “shawshanked” whenever it’s on.

Eddie has really wasted his talent on foot fetishes, tranny prostitutes, singing and 100 wives. He went Hollywood about as hard as any comedian I can think of and lost his edge.
