Think Kenny would like an agent?

Ken Williams Senior VP/General Manager
5 years (2005-09)

deal rolls over each year, paying 1 year of severance if terminated. No reported rate. No reported increase
hired 10/2000

Imagine seeing every single owner hire guys with guaranteed deals with 3 years, 5 years, etc and he is subject to an annual review, then a new deal and if fired he gets 1 year. It's like he is the manager for a industrial cleaning company.

Maybe this is why he said "It's not that great of a job."

Hey Big Fan. Kenny is obviously fine with it.

Wanna know why?

Cuz he wouldn't do it otherwise!!!!

After the World Series I'll bet he got a nice increase.

After last year he wasn't mad about his salary cuz the Sox sucked.

KW feels a debt of gratitude to Reinsdorf. Maybe he feels he wouldn't have gotten this GM chance with any other team.

The Sox also did Ozzie's last 2 contracts without an agent I think.

You can hate Reinsdorf Big Fan. I don't know why you're pissed over the fact that KW doesn't hate him.

Bigfan, while that is a ridiculus contract, you have to understand it within the context of KW and Reinsdorf's relationship. I remember reading somewhere that before KW signed as a baseball player Reinsdorf promised his mother that he would take care of him. Reinsdorf has damn near adopted the guy.

Reinsdorf is a benevolent dictator. 100 years ago I could see him starting a company town, kind of like Pullman. If you follow his rules, you are taken care of for life.
