They might consider keeping him out for this week and next against the Giants.

Get him fully healthy.

At this point play Chase. No reason to have him play this game.

Play (Pro Bowl QB) Trubisky. You can't afford to lose any of these games. He's a tough kid.

I've been out of the loop today, do we know what is wrong? He looked fine Sunday and was able to finish.

Is it serious? Do they expect him to play? Is this gamesmanship?

I heard a bit of the press conference, and it was a lot of Nagy talking up Chase Daniel. He also mentioned being cautious like they were with Mack. Flipping between Bernstein and Jurko, they both sound convinced that Daniel is playing Thursday instead of Mitch.

If it's a sprain it sounds like it's something that he can play through but it generally takes 2 to 3 weeks to heal. I hope that isn't true.

I look forward to listening to the post-game show on Thursday and sports radio on Friday if Chase Daniel looks as good or better than Mitch has all year.

They can beat the Lions with Chase Daniel. That's 2 full weeks off for Mitch before they go to New Jersey.

They should be able to run the ball on the Lions at will if that is the game plan.

I will have to adjust my prediction.

I would be disappointed Mitch doesn't play but a long recovery after the Thursday game makes sense.

I would be more disappointed if he plays Thursday, worsens the injury, and then has to miss two or three games down the road.

The Bears have demonstrated that they are good enough that even with a backup QB they should be able to beat the Lions.

No way Mitch should play with the investment Pace has made in him.

How do you know that? I don't think any of us has an educated idea of how Chase Daniel will perform if called upon.

What? Clearly if Chase Daniel comes out and throws 4 INTs, that is a big problem. As I stated though, if the Bears execute and get guys open on offense, and protect the football, they are good enough to beat the Lions without (Pro Bowl QB) Trubisky.

Ok. I read that the first time. Again, we have no idea how good Chase Daniel is, and because of how important QB is, that means we necessarily don't know if the Bears are good enough to beat the Lions with him.

The Bears have shown that their scheme on offense gets guys wide open, and their defense can absolutely shut down an opposing offense. That makes them good enough to beat a 4 win Lions team.

Backup QBs have come in and managed to win games before.

Is there a metric that can help you decide how good or bad Chase is ?

I think there's a good chance the Bears could win with Chase Daniel. I don't know how anyone can say with any degree of confidence they would though.

It's a small line even with Mitch expected to be the starter. Vegas and the market do not expect this to be a blowout.

With the Lions at home on Thanksgiving and the possibility of Mitch out this is a game that I expect the Bears to lose. 23 to 20 something along those lines.
