She was suppose to call corporate according to a few posters. There are people that have been denying or questioning whether or not this was racially motivated. She didn't make the right decision according to several people, she should have made the food, thrown it out and let corporate deal with it. And that may have ended in a ding on her anyway.

Calling Corporate is probably a good thing to do if you have repeat dine and dashers. It was pointed out that this is obviously something to do when customers aren't in line.

Nobody is questioning whether this is racially motivated once the full story came out. Everyone in this thread agrees who the good guy and bad guy are in the video.

It's dumb to argue whether she made the right decision or not because both sides have an equally valid claim to being right. That's the one part of this thread that was actually entertaining though.

It would not have ended with a "ding" on her anyway. Food loss is a part of every fast food place and restaurant and everyone who has ever worked there knows this. I worked in restaurants for 8 years. That was the dumbest part of this conversation and many people showed their lack of knowledge in the industry with it.

This story really isn't a big deal. It's sad for the fast food worker but many of you are acting like the prince in the Eastern fable who saw human maliciousness for the first time. It's a bit hard to take seriously.

Yep. Dined and dashed on two times as a server over 4 years serving at two different restaurants. It came out of the restaurants end and I wasn't blamed at all. This simply isn't something a manager or employee is going to be blamed for. Saying otherwise is objectively false and displays a fundamental lack of knowledge of how the hospitality/food service industry operates.

Any Greek restaurant owner worth a shit will tell you that the appropriate tactic is to make friends with the local police. Comp them beverages, discount their food, donate to charity events, build a culture where it's likely that a cop (on or off duty) will be in there frequently. Then take a photo of the asshole stealing food and ask the cops if anybody knows him.

Give away free shit to the cops year round to protect against the dozen or so times people attempt to steal $20 worth of food.

When you ask if your safety can be guaranteed if we in the same room that wasn't implying violence at all. You certainly aren't obsessed with me or anything.

I will always question people who don't like me who want to meet me in real life.

You are starting to sound like Baby McCown though which is an interesting way to not seem like an angry poster.

I think she should get a raise, personally.

She didn't make the right decision. I can promise you that she won't do it the same way again even if that person comes in again.

For one last time, this is exactly what she should have done. Make the burrito, ask for payment, when payment is not provided tell them that they don't get the burrito, and the person leaves. You then call corporate and tell them that a person has been coming in multiple times ordering a burrito and not paying for it and what should you do? They then provide the way they want that handled which may include banning them from the store(like retail stores do all the time) or another method. No viral video. No potential firing. No way that corporate punishes her for it.

The douchebags in the story are the guy who made the initial accusations and Chipotle. And the media but that's always a given.

After that, the discussion became whether it was worth it for her to do what she did.

Exactly. It's just practical advice.

If there was no evidence that this guy was a burrito thief then she would be fired and you couldn't really argue it as it would just be her word against his. She's really lucky that he is a very bad burrito thief.

Don't forget that Patrick Kane was falsely accused of a crime too which means we shouldn't believe that women are being truthful.

Well I'm glad your career as a food server qualifies you as an expert on corporatized restaurant management in our modern data-driven age.

I mentioned this before but I'll do it again.

I go to Chipotle, I order food, I get there to pay and I say I forgot my wallet at home so I can't pay for it so I have to leave. Is the manager getting fired for that?

I say no, and in fact, in the "modern data-driven age" they almost certainly can hit a button that said "Customer was unable to pay" and it gets put into a special category.

It's not inane conjecture. What is inane conjecture is that a manager would get fired in the modern data-driven age because a business model built around building your food before purchase ends up with a very small percentage of people not paying for the food and it being thrown away.

Yeah but you still fashion yourself as some sort of legal authority for some strange reason. This place is littered with actual Lawyers yet they don't engage in 1/1000th the amount of legalese talk as you.

https://youtu.be/ts0XG6qDIco

I find it ironic and hypocritical (a staple where you are concerned) that you would question anyone about qualifications given the amount of lawyering that you do on here. If you want to address what constitutes "tired bits" then that would be it. In addition is your non stop bashing of CH for something he stated over a month ago. Give it a rest.

I'm sorry . . . but I spent two hours carefully reading this thread . . . and this is actually one of the best threads I've seen on this board. It was by turns insightful (no matter which of the many sides of the many issues you came down on) and hilarious, and it attracted an array of posters. It had a perfect balance between insight and humor-though that may have been destroyed with 312's single contribution on page fourteen, as well as the comparisons between Nas and Don Lemon.
