I like that we've got a solid modern professional offense. Traditionally we've had a defense more often than not, but it's always some kind of "can we get enough offense?" type deal. This year out of 10 games Mitch has 4 300+ yard games, three sub-200yd games, and then three 200+ yd games. So almost half of the time Mitch is turning his ~25 completions into 300yds+ ...and it's not like Mitch is going out there and making you drop your jaw like DAMN LOOK AT OUR QUARTERBACK!!!!! --- for a QB in his 2nd year who is obviously still "developing" it's nice to see him right there at #11 overall in fantasy football, which tells you that the bears have a legit offense these days as conpared to the "helmeted on the short bus of life" feel that you'd get with your traditional bears offense.

Also, it's been fun to see a pretty clutch/cardiac team handle biz at the end of games more often than not. Granted this is always necessitated by the fact that we tend to dominate the first half, get adjusted to, then allow opponents to come back with a shot to win the game in the final minute/s, which is something that you'd ideally wanna live without (even if it does technically make for captivating football/television/"entertainment") --- BUT, at 8-3 (I just inadvertently typo'd 8-4 so argh I hope my gut feeling that the giants could be big trouble isn't true) despite this MO they've obviously shown that they can win some close games at the end, and look no further than yesterday for an example of your clutch cardiac bears getting not only a huge go-ahead mid-late 4Q pick-6, but also another endzone INT at the 2min warning to essentially ice the game (even tho it was really that huge 3rd down run by Cohen that killed the Lions, as they were gonna get the ball back with ~40sec left without a first down conversion)

TLDR = it's been really really nice to get a legit (offensive) coach in here who seems to be able to get great (offensive) performance/s out of good-but-not-necedsarily great players. The result is a pretty darn solid offense that has been able to complement a proper defense to the tune of 8-3, aka "we've got a chance to win every week" which is a far cry from the last few years of Chicago bears football.

All likable dudes, likable coach and young and hungry. Very aggressive. Most aggressive style since buddy Ryan. Most aggressive offense in my lifetime.

Nothing special yet. They've beaten bums. Just means they're not bums but doesn't mean they're special.

The Vikings were in the NFC championship game last year and they upgraded their QB.

They're not a NFC championship team this year and that's one out of 11 games. Again props to the Bears but their strength of schedule metrics are weak.

Sure doesn't seem like an upgrade.

According to your QB rankings it's a MAJOR upgrade. I knew what Cousins was in the offseason. He puts up pretty stats but will wet the bed when it matters.

It's been awhile since my rankings were updated. Maybe I'll do that after the games Sunday.

If you're gonna argue 2018 Cousins is an upgrade over 2017 Keenum you're gonna have a difficult time though.

I enjoy watching a young qb thrive under a coach who knows what he is doing.

I think you are correct about the aggressive defense. It gives the team character and that is a character Chicago happens to embrace.

Lovie's defenses were good but it always felt like whimpy football to stay back and wait for the opponents mistake.

Yeah and that was mainly because he never built an offense worth a shit so he played a conservative takeaway oriented defense because he figured that if they got behind in a game that they were screwed. He wasted a ton of really good defensive players in the process.

I like it that they have a balanced team with good to great players on both sides of the ball. For as long as I can remember, the Bears defense to win games except for the Ditka-led 80's teams which had talent on both sides of the ball. All the Bears really lack is good special teams over-all.

That is nonsense. Their defense is SPECIAL. Their developing qb is special. This is a team definitely on the rise and a young team over-all.

I think that Fangio made a change in his sit back and wait philosophy that he started the season with. I think it probably had to do with the fact that (Pro Bowl QB) Trubisky was out and that the defense really had to take over the game including taking some chances with blitzes.
