No he's not, but I get your point. It's no longer atrocious that they chose Deron over Paul in the draft, but he isnt on Paul's level. What Chris Paul does to defenders is just silly. As much as I despise the term mancrush, I've never liked an athlete not affiliated with my team as much as this guy. Its absolutely thrilling to watch him play.

Deron is not as fast as Chris Paul - this I agree with. He's not going to blow away defenders on the dribble. He's bigger so he can go in the post and doesn't get killed on screens. He's a better outside shooter and more of a threat outside the arc. Both jump into the passing lanes well. He's pretty darn close to Paul.

I agree, but he's not Chris Paul. Admittedly, Paul is basically Chuck Norris to me, but still. You are correct in your analysis of the situation, but Paul feels the game better than anyone I have seen, including Kidd. Deron is a better on the ball defender, post up guy, and outside shooter, but nobody makes his teammates better like CP does. If you want to say Deron is the 2nd best PG in the NBA, well for the first time ever I think Parker needs to be in the discussion, but I would agree with you. But he is not as good as Paul. I think Paul is closer than Bron right now in terms of inheriting "best player on the planet" from Kobe.

My biggest issue is Parker is he gets lost on D way too much. And it isn't just because Paul is scorching his ass - it happens with alot of average to good point guards going with parker.

Yeah, well he seems to really struggle with "tougher" PGs. He did a fantastic job containing Nash last series. But I have a new found respect for him in terms of floor leader and especially his offense. He is very fun to watch.

As a seperate but related issue, its fucking unbelievable what home court is doing to these playoffs. I thought Pops did a fantastic job switching defensive assignments and containing the Hornets and Paul, and then it goes back to NO and they just forget what made shit work last two games. Its very strange. I have never seen anything like this in terms of basically back a home team every time and you will substantially increase your bankroll this spring.

I agree with the home court comment - I know teams fight to get home court but typically teams will split on each others home floor, etc. Look at the Celtics, it's like night and day. They get their ass handed to them in Game 4 and then win handily in the Garden. It doesn't make much sense. Last night LeBron finally showed up but the rest of the team disappeared. Awesome job holding Z to 5 shots. If he's not scoring in double digits, it's tough for them to win.

One other Cavs thought - that holdout and then injury really hurt Varejao's productivity this year. He was super sub last year providing some baskets and bench energy and it's not there this year. That's the biggest difference I see with this year's club and last year.

Gasol reminds me of Parker in that way. In general when I think about them, I dont consider them "elite" at their respective positions, but they always end up leaving me thinking they are as good as anyone in the league at what they do.

It was never atrocious. Deron had out played him, until this season. I agree Paul is better, but you can't go wrong with either.

They lost out on Martell Webster(6), Linas Kleinza(27) and Ricky Sanchez(35).

I like Utah's end of the deal better.

Paul also commits fewer turnovers than pretty much anybody who touches the ball as much as he does. Something that doesn't get mentioned often.

It's possible Williams or Paul could have fallen to them with the 6th pick. NO was going to take Williams and that's why the Jazz moved up. I think the Jazz would have made better picks than the ones that were made.

No way either would have fallen that far. Both were the consensus 1 and 2 PGs in the draft. If you think NO takes Deron with 4, Charlotte takes Paul at 5 and Utah is stuck with Felton. Take about a downgrade.

I never realized how good of a passer he was.

Har-har, just saying that most of the national sports pundits look at raw numbers like assists or points without looking at how often they miss or cough it up.

(Assuming sarcasm...)

I dont know what draft you remember, but everyone was shocked Deron went ahead of Paul. It was assumed Paul would get drafted first.

It was worth it. They have a franchise PG. Thats invaluable.

My NBA buzz is fading. Cleveland-Boston has disappointed me. Besides the last game, I found it pretty boring so far.
Detroit-Orlando is done.
Utah-Lakers is alright now, but the first four games didn't excite me.
San Antonio-Hornets has been the best one so far. Parker vs. Paul has been great.

Home team domination makes for a boring playoffs.

That really is pissing me off. Its so annoying how predictable this has made all the series. Im hoping the ECF and WCF will be the saving grace. I would loooooove Detroit to walk into Bostons backyard and take both the home games as a kinda "fuck you, we can win on the road" type message. They have the talent and mental makeup to do it, but I doubt they are hungry enough to do it.

I'd like to think so, but this home court thing is getting ridiculous. I cant believe its even effecting a team like the Spurs. I think Spurs win tonight, and probably lose Game 7, if I had to guess right now. I dont even care anymore, I just want to see a team get a fucking road win. Home teams being 19-1 this round is just annoying.

Chris Paul and David West each pick up 2 fouls in about a 2 minute period. I thought there was some flopping by Bowen and Duncan, but the Hornets players did initiate the contact....

I think the Spurs break this game wide open in the 4th and win this by 15+.

Sounds about right. I thought David West just lost his composure. He's one of my favorite players but he's gotta show up better then he did tonight, bad back and all. They are gonna need him for Game 7,

I think it will too but Im picking the Hornets to win. The Spurs havent shown the ability to even compete in NO.

The Celtics are have to be the worst number 1 seed on the road ever. What a fucking joke. The big 3 piss on themselves on the road.

Agreed. This is NOT a championship team and any playoff team that can't win a road game, regardless of its talent, doesn't deserve to be considered championship level. If the Cavs can knock off Boston in game 7, they deserve all the respect in the world. Boston is a joke.

If they get lucky and get by the Cavs, they will lose to the Pistons. They will lose at least 1 game, if not more at home to them.

The Lakers look like the team to beat. Pau Gasol seems to be the quietest top player in the league. You almost forget he's there. He has a big impact on the game but it doesn't seem that way.

I'd love to see Lebron James finish off the Celtics. I don't really want to see two teams make the finals that are there because they took advantage of dumb GM's who had to make a panic trade where the teams got .10 on the dollar.

Dear Lebron James,
Please leave Cleveland as soon as you can. You have a bunch of players who are either washed up or bench players. The fact that Delonte West seemed to be the second best player on the Cavs is pathetic.

Think they would have been better off with Hughes and Gooden, but hindsight is 20/20 I guess.

I said that from day 1 of the trade. You got a bad Ben Wallace, a broken down Joe Smith, and a bad Wally. If I'm Lebron, I play the Kobe card. I would demand a trade, and force the Gm's hand to make a deal. They should have won today, if anyone could make a shot besides him. He played a hell of a game.

I wouldnt necessarily call Al Jefferson .10 on the dollar to KG.
