it sounds to me like one of those injuries that they will extend from week to week with no honest update from the Bears. I saw an original prognosis of 6-8 weeks and I will now consider that the truth.

Yeah you don't gain some competitive advantage by lying about whether he would play beyond maybe a week or 2. The fact that he isn't throwing says a lot.
