I know that going in when I attend a tournament and I would agree that it's not something I would buy season tickets too but to see these guys 1 time a year is a pretty special event. Golf is not an easy game and to watch the best in the world play it is like nothing else.

I've been out to the Western Open at least a half a dozen times and like most golf events it's about about eating, drinking and enjoying the weather and watching the best in the world do something I have a hard time doing and that's playing below par golf. Check that , that's something I've never done.

We believe you. We'd have heard about it otherwise ;)

And if you happen to suffer from Enochlophobia, a WNBA game is the place for you.

In the past three years I've watched more LPGA than WNBA. That's all I'll say about that subject.

We don't disagree, Ed. I go to at least one tourney every year for the very reasons you describe.

However, that experience is very different from watching it on TV. As you say, you know that going in but that is why golf has the biggest differential. It's a completely different experience that you don't get from watching TV. We seem to enjoy it but others may not.

With most sporting events you attend, you are there to see who wins. You could go to a golf tournament, spend all day there, and never see the winner take one action in competition. I don't think you can say that about any other sport.

Going to a practice round at The Masters is the best golf experience I ever had (mon and tues, not the par 3 tourney on wed). The mood is light and the players interact with the gallery. Augusta is the real star and it's easy to move around to see the entire course (cameras are allowed during practice rounds). There are also some fun traditions like skipping the ball over the water on the par 3 16th. We went on '04 and '05 and I would not hesitate for a second if the opportunity comes again.

I think when Tigers involved you can debate that Doc. People not only come out see him play golf, they expect him to win. The other 3 days are to spectate and Sunday people come out to watch Tiger win. But I understand your argument and you are correct.

Would love to watch a round at Augusta BTW. Keysor, when we hitting Wedgewood?

They may come out wanting to see him play but that doesn't mean they will.

Keyser, I made the trip down to Augusta for a Monday practice round this year. (Button 48). It was a pretty unbelievable experience to be there in person. We spent a lot of time on #16 and walking the back nine and to hear a roar from the crowd from a nearby hole give me the chills. As great as it was it is much better to watch on TV so you can see everything going on. If you are a golf fan and have the chance to see "The National" do yourself a favor and check it out, TV just doesn't really do it justice.

I've grown up on baseball. Been playing ever since early childhood. Been going to Sox games for as long as I can remember. There are so many little things about the game that I love that the casual fan just can't pick up on. Everything from pitch locations, to the terminology, to setting up the defense, signs and sign stealing, etc etc etc. Its not just strikeouts and home runs for me. Its the only sport where the defense holds the ball. Its the only sport where your team plays almost every day for 6 months straight. The weather is usually enjoyable during baseball season. Its relatively affordable to attend an MLB game, and tickets, for the most part, are plentiful and easily obtained
.

Were Happy for ya Frank but that and $4.25 will get you a gallon of gas these days. Baseball talk is not compelling radio unless people are on the ledge ready to jump off. I agree it's an awesome game and a great Summer time event to attend and enjoy a few beers , check out the hot chicks boobs falling out their tops and getting away from it all for 3 hours but bad radio in a nut shell.

I beg to differ Stu. Anytime Steve Stone is on the radio talking baseball, I'm listening. I also find CBT or CB Today compelling baseball talk.

I find most any in-season sports talk interesting. CBT is definitely worth a listen when I'm coming home late from softball games during the week. I don't get the NFL 12 month a year love though. It's my #1 sports attraction too, but other than draft week I don't think it's that interesting to hear about until pre-season.

I think that it is appropriate that a discussion about boring sports to watch occurs and the conversation naturally progresses to the topic of golf.

And then hot on those golf heels, lets talk about MLS or Mexican soccer. (And then hockey on TV ...sorry Stink)

The poker craze has calmed down a bit of late as well.I recall ESPN having poker on 5 nights a week. The World series of Poker is drawn out for about a month and then it's over thank God.

All these pros who play seem to be tools anyway and bitch when the young kids knock them out. You played your hand and they played theirs.
