He was certainly good against the Giants. 68 yards on 13 carries in the first half, but only 3 carries in the second half. WTF? That's bad playcalling.

If you were watching the game you would have seen why that happened. Don't box score watch.

That was his best game of the season that I can remember. As I said he has mostly sucked and if the offense had been leaning on him the Bears would likely be 4-8.

I watched the whole game, TM is correct. He should have gotten more carries in the 2nd half. Inexcusable that he didn't.

They started that last drive with him and he ran over the Giants 3 straight plays. Then they just stopped. Stupid.

Then you have amnesia. The Bears tried to run the ball on their first drive in the 2nd half and Howard sucked. By the time they started their 2nd drive at the end of the 3rd they were down by 10.

No, I dont have amnesia. Im just not short sighted enough to completely abandon the run because of ONE BAD RUNNING PLAY. LITERALLY ONE bad play and you decide "he sucked"

You on the other hand decide something (Howard sucks) then work backwards to try and prove that you're right, rather than just watching what's actually happening.

Also, there is no rule that you cant run the ball when you're down 10. Moving the ball down the field by run is just as good as passing.

This response is insane.

Daniels is terrible and the Giants were sitting on the short routes. The Bears needed to run the ball a lot more than they did in both halves, especially given the Giants' putrid run defense.

That was the only drive it made sense to run on. When you're down by 10 at the end of the 3rd then running for the sake of running is just foolish.

No I watched the game and understood why they didn't run a lot after going down by 10 at the end of the 3rd. There is even a game thread where you can kinda follow the game with. No one was demanding run because it didn't make sense.

The fact that the Bears came back and tied the game because they rightly passed the ball really makes me scratch my head with your gripe about running.

Should they have run the ball after they were 2nd and 14th on their first drive? Should they have run the ball when they were down 10 at the end of the 3rd? Reality is passing is what tied the game.

It's not running for the sake of running. It's running because Howard is picking up good chucks and Daniel sucks.

They also had a big lead in the first half on the back of Howard's running.

Let's get back to "Howard was terrible" because he had one run go for negative yardage (probably the fault of the offensive line)

Gonna stick with that?

Jordan Howard is still Jordan Howard. No way has he hit a wall this early in his career. He's the victim of poor run blocking this year. It seems like every run blitz works against the Bears. I see no reason why he can't be a key part of this offense if Nagy commits to using him regularly.

A caller to a show Spiegs was hosting wondered if RPO was hampering Howard. Whether or not the split second decision of not running or now running instead of passing was affecting his output.

That would have made sense when the Bears were leading. Howard was playing well in the first half and Daniel was turning the ball over. I would have preferred that.

They were up 4 at halftime. They never had a big lead. They had to fight their way back from a pick 6 and a red zone interception and general Daniel suckage.

I think you're so caught up in making your point that you're failing to read my posts or you're just purposely misrepresenting what I've posted. I said Howard has generally been terrible this year so feeding him just for the sake of feeding him wouldn't be wise. In fact Nagy taking his foot off the gas and unnecessarily running the ball cost him 1 victory and almost cost him another game. I never said Howard was terrible against the Giants. I said that watching the game I understood why they went with the pass after being down 10 to start their 2nd drive of the half at the end of the 3rd quarter.

He can't make anyone miss. There was him and a defensive back in his path to the endzone last game. Instead of him running through the guy like he probably would have done in years past he tries to stiff arm him and is easily tackled. He's clearly lost something.

Howard is just too fucking slow to reverse course once the interior OL collapses. He is strictly a between-the-tackles rusher, and the holes have not been there in the vast majority of cases.

People who want him to get more carries either (A) own him in a fantasy league or (B) are big fans of Pat O’Donnell.

Bringing in a new RB who can actually improvise on up-the-gut plays and offer some type of value in the passing game will be a top priority next season. The good news is that they can be had on Day 3.

That is true. Howard is a power back. Give him a crease and he will hit it hard and if you give him a hole, he will run over people. He does not have a line that is good at run blocking. They had one in his first two years and he thrived. BTW I am not bagging on the over-all performance of the offensive line. I love the job that the offensive line coach has done over-all with this line, especially after losing their best lineman, Long. He wasn't responsible for the linemen that he got to work with. And the job he has done with especially our offensive tackles is genius as far as I am concerned.

So Nagy knows what he has and is doing what good coaches are supposed to do, namely play call around the strengths and the weaknesses of his talent. So he feels obliged to gimmick some things and figure out some ways to accomplish his yardage objectives.

I'm looking forward to a good game. Clearly the Rams should win based on past performance. But you never can be sure about a football game. The Bears have the best defense in all of football and with (Pro Bowl QB) Trubisky, they have a quarterback who can escape the Rams defensive line. So, I think the Bears have what I would call a slugger's chance to win.

But, I think that the Bears are still a year away from a championship run and if they lose to the Rams so what? They still will win their last three games and go 11-5. And that will result in a play-off entry and in the play-offs anything can happen. We all have seen a hot quarterback and turnovers win championship games. It will be fun to watch.

I'm looking forward to a good game. Clearly the Rams should win based on past performance. But you never can be sure about a football game. The Bears have the best defense in all of football and with (Pro Bowl QB) Trubisky, they have a quarterback who can escape the Rams defensive line. So, I think the Bears have what I would call a PUNCHER's chance to win.

You're welcome.

I don't like the Sunday night games. They're on too late.

Idiotic for players and fans to have them in Chicago in December. You're just asking for guys to get hurt.
