Machado is meeting with the Yankees today. Wonder if he even makes it to the Phillies by the end of the week.

I'm gonna say he's a Yankee no later than tomorrow.

Don't think that he wants the pressure of that city.

Machado only spent an hour and a half with the Yankees.

Either that or they wrapped the deal up quickly.

They're fine at 3rd and Short. Fans are fine with what they have at 3rd and Short. Doesn't mean they won't make an offer but it won't be close to what he's looking for.

They are fine at 3rd and short for a 90+ loss team.

A championship team trades Tim Anderson for whatever, and has Yolmer Sanchez as a backup infielder.

He's talking about the Yankees, Frank.

But with Didi out for at least half the season, I disagree that they're "fine". And the Yankees aren't a franchise that can afford to just shrug and say, "We'll get by" while the Red Sox kick the shit out of them.

You would already hear noise if the Yankees were about to get him. I think the Sox are in the lead. I expect something to be done by Christmas.

I'm convinced Machado is going to sign with the White Sox.

He's got the Phillies tomorrow, but I get the feeling things didn't go great in the Bronx. I hope you're right.

Will they send the Philly Phanatic to greet him at the airport?

Mlb.com says Sox have the 3rd best chance

Sounds like bullshit. They're ranking teams who haven't met with him because they aren't the Sox. I think that the Phillies prefer Harper. Let them have him.

I agree.

I inferred from the tone of the interview with Alonso yesterday that the Sox are his preferred location. I wish some brilliant local reporter would give a call over to Wellington for his thoughts on the subject. He supposedly was Machado's best friend on the Orioles.

I know, I know, Silver and Black dolphin but I really think the Sox have the best offers out to each player and that one offer will not be withdrawn if the other player signs first. I also think the market is nowhere near the speculated $400 million

So even though a signing and not a trade getting Machado to kick off the window is bigger than Rizzo right? I mean no cancer but gotta be?

I think Harper is around 350-375/10, and Machado might be closer to 300/10, possible under 300.

I see Machado willing to take the money and play for a shit team more than I can see Harper doing it .

Back to Nardi's point. I think the meeting was a PR move...nothing serious.

I also agree with this.

Let's just humor the pipe dream and pretend Jerry really is ready to stack up the roster to sell and they sign both Machado and Harper....Ths would be a huge benefit to Machado. Harper being there takes a ton of pressure off of Machado. I don't think he wants any part of being the center of attention.
