It seems that Pax is in no hurry to get a new coach.

Don't the Bulls need to get a coach for their input in this draft decision? Or does it not really matter?

Thoughts. . .

John Paxson & Jerry Reinsdorf need to make a decision soon concerning the Bulls' new head coach. While Kevin Durant was drafted before the Sonics settled on P.J. Carlesimo as head coach in Seattle last summer, time is a wasting and the Bulls need to get it going! Avery Johnson is headed for TV, while the Pistons are still saying "no" to assistant Michael Curry & the Celtics have yet to grant Tom Thibodeau permission either. Jazz assistant and former DePaul star Tyrone Corbin met yesterday, with fellow assistant Jeff Hornacek, former Timberwolves' head coach Dwane Casey and Kings' assistant Chuck Person all coming up in no particular order. I heard ABC 7's Jim Rose yesterday on the Bulls' flagship ESPN 1000 suggest Paxson himself, and in a previous post, I even suggested a dual role after Reinsdorf stuck his foot in his mouth following the Mike D'Antoni fiasco with the Knicks. A gut feeling...Thibodeau is the one Paxson REALLY wants, but to paraphrase the Rolling Stones, "You Can't Always Get What You Want". Then again, the same could be said about the Cliff Claven-looking D'Antoni.

I think it's safe to say that Paxson wants to at least interview Thibodeau, and probably Brian Show with the Lakers.

I think it's preferable that the Bulls hire a coach before the draft, but I don't think it's a make or break deal.

I will assassinate Paxson if he hires Dwane Casey.

Im thinking he's gonna hire Thibodeau. The job is attractive now. Thibs will want to come here, and if Pax wants him, they will make it work. And no, he doesnt need a coach's input. No coach is gonna complain about either Beasley or Rose.

Agreed. I watched him with the Timberwolves and if you think Boylan lost control and respect.....

I laughed when I read Mariotti's column this morning where he said Paxson could burden a 1st year head coach with a draft pick that he had no input on drafting.

None of these guys mentioned really does much for me.

I think right now I would prefer them to go with Mark Jackson or Jeff Hornacek.

What leads you to believe they would be a better candidate than Tom Thibodeau?

Nothing. We really have no idea what type of systems these guys will run. We can expect Thibodeau to stress defense, but it would be interesting to know more about them.

You know what sucks? I think Rose under Skiles would have been great.

Rose is very coachable. Skiles would have built the team to his strengths.

Skiles would have demanded defense out of him and Rose would have delivered.

Sucks that Skiles couldn't have lasted this past season.

Yeah, like if they draft either Rose or Beasley whoever comes in to coach is going to bitch about it. "I would've taken the other guy... "

That is why I said none of these guys really impress me. I know nothing about Thib other than he supposedly really helped the Celtics defense, but I wonder how much he actually did compared to how much credit should be given to Kevin Garnet who has always been a top notch defender.

Quite the opposite actually. KG got all the credit and the average fan has no clue who Thibodeau is.

I'm pretty sure likes his TV gig too much, but if the Bulls go with one of the young assistant types, I'd love to see Hubie take on the Tex Winters role. Rose could learn a lot from the man.

Skiles also was a PG so I'm sure that would have helped Rose out also.

Fair point - I'm sure all of these guys know how to coach, but it's really going to come down to what kind of roster they have to work with.
