Any chance the Finals get cancelled so that neither team winds  . I honestly don't know who to root for. If I was forced to pick a team, I guess I would say the Penguins.

Okay, I lied. After thinking about it more, "I Predict" that the Wings are going to win this thing in 5 games. I think you will see a game 3 win for the Pens, but after that I cant see them doing much more. Good game last night if your a wings fan.

I was actually gonna catch some of the game tonight with how shitty the White Sox offense is going and how ugly the NBA game tonight is starting. I was thinking it sucks to flip through all 3 games, and so far none seem very compelling.

Hopefully pittsburgh picks it up, I thought they were better then this. I cant believe they have not scored once in four periods.

Apparently these Red Wing guys are pretty good at what they do. I feel like that one reporter on the video Stink posted.

Hey FF, what are they doing right now?

Uh.. they are.. skating.

Anything else?

Um.. they are hitting the puck. And uh... the guys in red... they seem to be better at it.

Detroit pressures the puck constantly and is making it difficult for the Pens to even get anything going when they try to set up a play in their own end. The pressure is causing the Pens to give away the puck much too much in their own end. The Wings' pressure is relentless. The Pens have to find an answer for this. Their vaunted offense is stymied.

I find it petty when the Pens coaching staff and Crosby sit at the post game press conference and cry that the Wings are obstructing them in the neutral zone and no penalties are being called which is the reason they have not scored a goal in over 6 periods of hockey. Malkin had 0 shots on goal yesterday and to the Wings credit they have made Malkin disappear and the credit goes to Zetterberg and Datsyuk and that checking line. How many of your checking lines can say they have shut down the leading scorers in the leauge and yet be the top point getters in the playoffs? Amazing to me the job they have done . It took the Pens as a team to register their first shot on goal 13 minutes into the first period.Explain that stat to me ?

I expect the Pens to get a ton of power plays in games 3 and 4 and their bitching and moaning should get them some goals and I expect a Pens victory and a very Phyisical game tomorrow night. I'm enjoying the Wings victories but I thought it would be a more entertaining , wide open type of series.

The ratings are up 70% in this series and that's a positive for the NHL but I would like to see it go at least 6 games.

This last game is the reason I thought the Hawks would have been better served signing Brad Stuart last off season than Robert Lang, which I still maintain. He's a UFA this off-season, but his price as gone with the playoffs. I'm sure the Red Wings would like to keep him, but he may have priced himself out of the sweater. He would still be a better value and add more physicality than Brian Campbell.

Im not surprised at all. I've tried to make a point to watch the series, even when it was on during a Sox game and an NBA conference Finals game, and Im a HUGE NBA fan.

Fuck it Crow..SIGN BOTH OF THEM !! I'd be the first guy on the phone to buy my season tickets.

I think Campbell gives your power play a legit chance to score a PP goal a game. I love Stuart but Campbell is the cog on the poweplay and can bring the puck up and what a combo of Duncan Keith and Campbell on the PP.

Trade Habby for a second line center or a big tough winger who can get you 15 to 20 goals and they become a Legit Cup contender.

As far as forwards are concerned, I would love to see the Hawks poach the restricted FA Corey Perry from the Ducks, just to get the perpetually red-assed Brian Burke even more irritated, and since the Hawks are already so young, they can afford to expend draft picks on a proven commodity. The Ducks are already paying through the nose for Getzlaf, Proger, Giguere, and Niedermayer, which is what caused them to unload Andy McDonald (who severely underperformed in a Blues sweater).

And either way, you can mark my words that the Hawks will deal the #11 pick this year. Look for that pick to go in a package to possibly Florida for Olli Jokinen.

I think Campbell might just become a Hawk at this price.

Back to the series in progress.... I haven't had much time to watch the Finals games thus far, but my GOD is Detroit's defense stifling. I heard the crying by the Pens, but the Dead Things are just that freakin good. My wife is sitting here in amazement hearing me saying nice things about the Dead Things.

BTW..... The OTHER Cup finals will face off at 7:00 tomorrow at RoseMizon. Be there :D

Disclaimer to my last post.... Crosby is a freak. And Franzen's handling on his goal was just nuts.

2-1 after two, but if it wasn't for the first period turnover that led to the first Pens' goal, this would be 1-1. The Pens finally got double digit shots in the 2nd period. Not sure that will last. The Wings D seems like it can turn it up a notch when it needs to.

A fantastic end to end hockey game and the hitting was exceptional tonight. Crosby came out and showed the nation he's the best in world and the Wings came out and showed the poise and veteran leadership they posses with not panicking and just played their game in the 3rd period and came up a bit short.

. I thought the Wings out played the Pens and if Holmstrom is not one of the best forwards in the leauge , tell me who is? I gained a ton of respect for the man in this years playoffs. What a horse in front of that net and the beating he takes shows me how great he really is.

I hope they play Cheli in this series as this looks to be his last series and he will be hanging the blades up. I would hate to see him scratched the rest of the series and he goes out on the bench when the Wings win the Cup. You heard it here first . .

This Pens fan will readily admit the Wings are the better team. Being outshot by double digits in the third period and for the game and only managing 5-6 shots in the first and third periods are not the kind of trends that bode well for the Pens. They actually held their own on faceoffs last night, which was a real worry coming in, but have no answer for the Wings' defensive pressure. Maybe they can muster another fluke win on Saturday.

So was last night an abberation like Coast was referring to, or can the Pens win Game 4? I've been trying to follow this series as much as possible while being a hoops head. Crosby looked great from what I saw in Game 3, and that Rogers guy on the Pens is alot of fun to watch. Do the Wings finish this in 5 games or can the Pens make it a series?

You mean Gary Roberts? He's 100 years older than dirt, but he's a mucker, grinder, and a loose puck finder.

The Pens can absolutely make this a series, but they have to be disciplined defensively, and Fleury cannot allow any questionable or soft goals. Both teams want to play a puck-possession game, and if the Penguins get caught running around in their own end, Detroit will make them pay either at full strength, or force the Pens into a penalty and punish them with the man advantage.

There is a lot more to home ice than having the crowd behind you as well. Home teams get the last change, as well as can put their sticks down second for faceoffs- which are important to win IF you want to play a puck possession game, as stated above. Additionally, home teams get the personnel matchups they want both offensively and defensively- again key to an puck possession game. The Penguins did a better job at the dot as Coast said as a direct result of this.

If the Penguins are going to succeed, their secondary scoring needs to show up now, after their primary scoring (read: Crosby) finally broke out last night (as a result of matchups). Malkin has been a ghost the last 7 or so games, and that can't happen. Goals from unlikely sources, such as the deciding tally from Adam Hall last night help, though.

Thanks for the info Stink. Thats alot more helpful while watching the next game than the stuff I get from Barry Melrose and Don Cherry on ESPN, which is understandable, because I feel very sorry for casual fans relying on Stephen A Smith for NBA knowledge.

No problem. I could blather on about strategery all night if given the opportunity. I personally find Don Cherry to be a blowhole, but he's somewhat entertaining. Barry is knowledgeable, but he doesn't waste time going through the basics for the n00bz, which Edzo does a lot during game broadcasts.

I'd agree with that from what I've seen of the two. I think part of the problem with Barry is ESPN doesnt give him ample time to explain all the things he'd like, so he's trying to squeeze 15 minutes of analysis into a 5 minute segment
