I will be staying home with wife and kid and having a slumber party downstairs. My just-turned-4 YO daughter (birthday yesterday) thinks she’s staying up till midnight. I’ll believe it when I see it. I doubt I do, and I know my wife won’t, but we bought a lot of coffee. We got one of those throwback Nintendos, so probably play some Zelda too.

That’s cool. When my kids were little I didn’t have time to drink for about eight years and we did similar. Coffee for sure and ginger ale. One trick was we would watch NY drop the ball and then say let’s go to bed. Took years before they knew.

I'm pretty sure the percentage of corn in the mash bill is what makes a Bourbon rather than where it was distilled. And it can't be filtered like Jack.

Anyway, there are some decent Bourbons from Ohio- OYO, Tom's Foolery, and Watershed are three that I've tried.

Evanston used to have a good non-alcoholic NYE celebration called First Night. It was pretty appropriate for the home of Frances Willard and the WCTU. I'm not sure why they got rid of it.
