Conservative playcalling does not work in the playoffs.

I won’t mind if Fangio returns, he’s done a great job. But if he leaves, this is why I won’t mind either.

Overdramatic reaction here. They gave up 16 points, seven of which came on a short field after a bad punt. The offense went three and out a bit which gassed the defense. Despite all that, they only gave up 16 which is around what they averaged all year. That average led the league. The loss is on the offense and the GM for failing to find a good kicker.

Nope. Fangio’s conservative bend but don’t break defenses have cost us other games too. There’s a pattern there. It’s not about how many they score, it’s about giving up scores when you absolutely cannot afford to. And Fangio’s defensive play calling is good for letting that happen.

A loss like this will stir the fire. This year's rookie coach and new system QB will be next years Super Bowl Champions. I was one of 2 guys in this thread to predict the upset based on people underestimating the Eagles and the Bears being inexperienced.

Next year they will be unstoppable from BOTH sides of the ball.

NFL teams, particularly playoff teams, are going to score on you, no matter how good the defense is. Especially in an era of rules designed to facilitate high scoring games. You're holding fangio to an impossible standard (no scores whatsoever when you can't afford it). 16 yielded is just fine.

No, they'll probably lose the division to Green Bay; history says out-of-nowhere Bears seasons don't predict much future success.

The thing that bothers me the most is the fact that this was the Eagles. I heard their sportscasters on the radio this week with the simulcast and they were certain the Eagles were going to win. Philadelphia fans are probably the worst fans in sports.

The only solace I take in this whole thing is that the Saints are probably going to beat the Eagles next week.

They played a last place schedule this year and have a first place schedule next year.

2001, 2010. And they followed up 2006 by sucking for three whole years. I get why you guys are taking this one so hard. You know that while it probably won't be a whole eight years between playoff games like last time, there's no guarantee they'll be back any time soon.

I thought they were the 84 Bears but they weren't . At least that team got to the NFC Champ.

Next year they will have to winning teams on the schedule. Can't sneak up on anyone else. I think the D will be great, but the O is the big ?

They suck. No running game. Gave up around 22 points per game this year. A real offense will put this team away.

They underperformed against their averages this season while the defense performed right in line with expectations.

I’m not holding Fangio to an impossible standard at all. I’m asking for the coach to do what is necessary during a game to put his players in the best position to succeed. Not swapping Mack around more (when we saw him move Mack around all year) when Mack was clearly struggling against Peters, and not attacking an immobile QB up the middle to force him to move around more (for example) on key drives is not doing those things.

He did this in the Miami game as well as the games against the Patriots and the 1st Packers game.. You cannot sit back all the time and constantly give the opponent chances to pick you apart on defense in close games because this is what happens more often than not when you do. He was criticized for this in San Fran as well so this isn’t news breaking stuff I’m pointing out here.

Look guys. This is the Playoffs. You're not going to be able to do the same shit you did in the regular season and succeed. Playoff games are going to be tight just like today. Kid has just got to make the kick to win the game.

Interesting that the play before, Nagy went for the HR TD.

I think his decision to have Mitch throw into the end zone with 10 seconds left showed his lack of confidence in Parkey. I think most teams don't risk a throw or sack there.

2005 was a surprise year followed by a Super Bowl run in 2006.
