This.

The NFL doesn't work like that. Teams don't usually take "steps". Every season is it's own thing. They could win 2 games next year or 13. We just don't know. Gotta capitalize when you have the chance.

And next years schedule is butts.
I'm worried they win 10.

Wouldn't you know that the Bears had to draw the Superbowl Champs and face the guy that outplayed Brady in the Superbowl? Foles might have had the two picks, but he made the plays for the Eagles when they needed him. So did (Pro Bowl QB) Trubisky for the Bears to put them in position in the last drive.

This hangover is going to last a long-time. It's the Great Chicago Fire redux. I bet the players are shocked they are not going into meeting rooms today.

There will be nothing good to feel about with the draft either, because the Bears have no 1st round pick. Even worse, we'll probably lose Fangio, which is a big deal. And you're going to have Parkey again on your roster next year, because cutting him would mean losing $1 million in cap space.

Why did Nagy have to go for the 2 pt. conversion that failed? That was the difference in the game. It didn't seem necessary there with a lot of the game still left.

If they cut Parkey after June 1 there is no cap hit. Only dead money.

A tad over $4mil ... i think that's doable ... cost of Pace's tuition teaching him he needs to make better deals with better people.

Well.....Pace has gone through 5 kickers. He has to hit on one eventually.

Too bad the Bears don't have a first or second round pick to use on one in April.

Bad thought. No it wasn’t. The eagles would have just kicked the XP and still won by one point.

This...

Bears fans showing their football acumen over the last 18 hours, for sure. The sports radio calls, bar chatter and forum have been sources of great entertainment. How does such a casual NFL fan like myself know this stuff but hardcores do not?

My enthusiasm for next season is tempered by the fact that while they can only play who is on their schedule, their success this season came against a last place schedule and next year they play a first place schedule. I think they'll still be a good team next year (mainly due to the defense) but likely with a few less wins due to stiffer competition, which is natural. The personnel changes alone on offense should have yielded more production on that side of the ball than last season, and while I hope I am wrong I fear that Nagy's offense is mostly superficial window dressing with little substance and not any more effective than most other offenses. Maybe it just comes down to a rookie head coach trying to implement a new offense, there will be growing pains, and things will improve next season, but at this point I don't get all the praise heaped upon Nagy as an offensive guru.

He's been very chummy with the easily manipulated media, so he has likely bought himself some time before their criticism of him gets too loud.

Hold the fuck on, Rube DOES not speak for Bears nation. We ousted him long ago.

Noted, but this is just one example of several. A caller just asked M&H the same thing and Mully had to hang up on him.

In fact, Mully hung up on 4 callers in one single segment.

I don't think that matters anymore with so much parity.

And as far as Nagy, they went from 29th in points to 9th. I think that justifies a lot of the love.

Playing better teams will make it more difficult to win 12 games next year than it was this year.

They went from having garbage at WR last year to having 4 good to very good WRs this year. I think that would have made a big difference in offensive production regardless of who was coaching. I certainly don't think he's a bad coach, but I'm not ready to apply the offensive guru label just yet.

Their schedule is difficult because they get the AFC West(Chiefs, Chargers) but so does the rest of the NFC North. They get both the Chiefs, Chargers at home too. Same goes for the Saints, Home game. Their road games are easier. None of this matters in the NFL because all this means is the Broncos will go 14-2 next year.

Having to play the NFC East champs(Cowboys) doesn't matter because the whole NFC North plays the East. So the big differences are the Saints and Rams.

Right but no one, including the NFL schedule makers, know who will be good year to year. They may not play better teams.

Basically, this game came down to just bad luck. Two doinks off pipe. Two bad breaks. It was just bad luck. Birds played well. Bears played well. Just bad luck.

Every game ever has come down to luck, if you put it that way.
