Titans had enough TOs to make them run plays.

Too much sportsmanship. Anything can happen.

Passed on multiple starting QB's and now looking to dump their #4 pick. The Jaguars are a mess again.

him being on the market should only highlight the attractiveness of Howard to potential teams

Coughlin bustin' heads for sitting on the bench during the game.

His play of late has increased his value but he still doesn't look like the Howard I saw in years past.

Point remains but if you expand that to top ten instead of top six then the picture looks different. Rodgers had the Packers in the playoffs every year so you could argue that he's an outlier; similar case for Ryan, to a lesser extent.

This makes Roquan Smith look not so crazy.

As far as Howard, he is basically free one more year. Unless you are getting a second or high third no point in getting rid of him.

Matt Ryan has been overrated for years. Rodgers is clearly breaking down and is on the decline. He made damn near $100M this year. For that type of money you have to be in the playoffs.

I think that I agree with you about Howard. I don't see the Bears getting more than a 5th now. A 2nd and possibly a late 1st could have been had last year.

More importantly that list doesn't tell you who the best 6 QBS are, just the LAST 6 to sign deals.

True. The way I read the tweet beyond its literal meaning was that an elite QB may not be necessary to win it all and/or handing out big money to QBs may set you back instead of propelling you forward. I've sort of come around to what I think is Rick's way of thinking on this, which is you don't hand out market value to QBs who are not clearly elite. In other words I'd pay whatever it cost to sign someone like Mahomes but I wouldn't pay market value for someone like Cousins even if my other options aren't as good as Cousins.

Have to have a coach that can get the most out of the QB position, if you play it like that. Pace pulled that shit and people crucified him for it.

Definitely. And you'd have to make sure your D is competitive enough to keep you in games. Best case is you wind up with a Baltimore-type situation where you have a barely good enough QB and a stellar D. Worst case is the Arizona teams of a few years ago with good defenses but horrible QB play.

Baltimore won a Super Bowl. It just happened to be perfect timing for Flacco.

Yes and that. I was thinking of today's Baltimore in my post.

Right. As as bad as Flacco has been, he still won a ring which is all that matters.

Flacco was on his way to FA when they won that SB. Forced the team to give him a big extension that he never deserved. Trent Dilfer was super jealous.

The catch 22 is when someone like Flacco sends you his invoice. In hindsight, I'm fine with paying Flacco rookie-type money or a level above. I'm not fine with paying him superstar money, which is what they paid him. The challenging part is what to do when you know your QB isn't the next Peyton Manning but he's been good enough to compete - do you pay him to stick around? Baltimore did (Flacco) and Washington didn't (Cousins). I think there are probably more Baltimores than Washingtons in recent memory.

He's generally been money in the playoffs and he had arguably the best postseason run by any quarterback.

He's been to the playoffs once since that deal was signed (not including this season).

I think they assumed there would be more appearances and he could flip the switch.

Should have flipped it during the regular season. He will be the Jaguars QB next season.
