This did not age well.

In fairness, I was down on Pace too at the same time but I wasn't THAT down on Pace.

You were pretty down.

I was down on him. His 1st few years were crap and it looked like he didn’t have a plan.

I’m still not 100% convinced he knows what he’s doing. Especially in the draft. But there’s no denying he grabbed some good players last year and this year. He also gets credit for hiring Nagy (I like him personally) and the Mack trade.

What about John Lynch hosed Pace narrative? I didn't notice Solomon Thomas and his whopping 1 sack this year.

He's learned on the job. Fangio and Gruden helped.

Giving up a pick when you most likely didn’t have to was dumb on his part. Regardless of who it was traded to.

But we’ll never know, so it’s a difficult argument.

No. Coughing up the pick was unnecessary. Let's not even factor the trade was for Trubinsky in a draft with Mahomes and Watson available as well....

Every time you pay for something that would have otherwise been free you overpaid. I thought you were making progress Bob. This is a disappointing setback.

Nobody can PROVE Mitch would have been available at pick #3. Just like nobody can PROVE FavreFan is a heterosexual male.

That Shaheen pick and the (Pro Bowl QB) Trubisky trade are not good.

The Mack trade and the Nagy hire are great tho.

Shaheen pick is a huge bust.

Especially when you remember Kittle, a future HOFer, was drafted in the 5th round.

Let's see...what if someone did jump up and grab Mitch at #2. If only there was an MVP worthy Quarterback available after Mitch....

Back to reality:
No one was jumping ahead to take Mitch.
There was actually a better option available after Mitch.
Pace is paid to know this...then there's Kevin Fucking White.

As RR...Pace has learned on the job and had some help along the way. I've raised his grade form F, but he still has some room for improvement in terms of the NFL draft. Players drafted in the first round need to be year 1 starters...period.

I don't know yet. Mitch can still easily end up being the best in his draft. Reason being is even though we wanted him to be better out of the gate, he has in fact gotten better over time. Nobody thinks he is going to level off yet... So it's too hard to tell what the next few years will decide about his draft class.

I'm also optimistic because he's clearly a tough dude. You can't be a pussy if you want to last 10-15 years in the NFL... And Mitch ain't no pussy.
