Sure. Almost a zero chance they have the success they did this year though. They are still going to be very good barring major injuries obviously.

They had one of the best defenses of the past 30 years this year on a per snap basis, according to DVOA. All the best defenses recently, Seahawks, Broncos, Ravens, etc, couldn’t sustain that success in back to back seasons, even when they had really good defenses the next year. It will be nearly impossible to be better next year for them. The main reasons for that are that good health and a huge, unsustainable turnover rate helped propel them to historical dominance this year. Those are two impossible to control factors that will almost certainly regress next year.

Coming into the season, on paper, there were zero reasons to expect the Jaguars defense to regress except for the two factors I just mentioned. And guess what happened?

Quite frankly, I thought the D this year was very good but a bit over-loved nationally.

It felt like the '84 Bear D which was great but didn't quite hit on all cylinders per their talent until the following year. I'm going with that.

Statistically the 1986 Bear's defense was better than the 1985 Bear's defense.

If dolphin and Ken were Chiefs fans I would be reading an entertaining thread right now about how the KC offense is going to be better next season.

I'm pretty excited about a more aggressive defensive approach with this group of athletic talent and what they can do.

It's actually the reverse of February 1986 (which was actually January 27, 1986 - also the day the Space Shuttle blew up).

Some of you guys sound like the same gang in 2007 that was so excited to see the Bears defense unleashed under Bob Babich.

I agree with this. They had 2 players (Mack and Roquan) learning on the fly. They also sucked closing games.

Bears will probably lose Pagano as well eventually if the defense remains elite. He got jobbed a bit in Indy as Luck was injured a good portion of his tenure there.
