Oh, and then there is the the doesn't-matter-until-it-matters position of place kicker. Money and cap hit be dammed, it is simply not fair to the coaches and other 52 men on the roster to have Cody Parkey anywhere near this team once the new league year starts.

They need someone better and younger than Massie. They need to keep Long and add another guard to the roster.

Kevin White will be replaced by Wimms and why shouldn't he. Wimms showed in preseason and when given a shot in the regular season.

Callahan is a nickel not a safety. Nickel plays something like 70% of the plays anyway. The other problem with Callahan is that he is also a FA. He is less important in that, while I think he is better at his position than Amos is at his, he is hurt every year so they have learned to play without him. I have a feeling he also gets a big contract on the market and I would let him walk as well. I love him as a player but he is small for the position which leads to all these injuries. We need more dependability.

We will see about Massie.

Long might be the most difficult play to make. He is still a difference maker on that line, as we saw when he returned from injury. He makes a lot of money, has had a rash of injuries and is surprisingly old. I want him on the team and can live with his contract if forced to do so but a reduction is coming in one of these years.

Kyle Long was abused often on Sunday.

Nope.

Nobody is afraid of this offense. That needs to change.

It hurts to even write those words this week.

I wanted to start out with probably the biggest free agent on the team this year: Adrian Amos. Amos is a PFF darling and admittedly has developed well over his time with the team. I think someone is going to give him a big contract. While I would like to have him back I do not think he is worthy of a large contract. He is strictly a SS, as we learned this week. Jackson's presence as a FS has allowed him to look his best as a run supporter and thumper in the middle of the field. I think I would have loved Amos 10 years ago. However, how valuable is that role in today's NFL?

I think the last three weeks have also revealed that Bush is ready for a bigger role. I don't think he is or ever will be great. However, I think he is ready to be a competent starter in the NFL who will be a complement to the much bigger star of Jackson. Some day down the road the team is going to have to devote a big contract to Jackson and I don't want an ridiculous Amos contract to get in its way.

I think I would let someone else take him, fill the position in house and hope for some compensating pick in 2020 when we are still missing a first rounder.

This is probably the most likely scenario. They won't be able to afford every player, and they may value Callahan over Amos especially with Bush potentially ready to step in.

Amos is a very good player though, particularly in the running game.

Bellamy did play well this year, but he still plays too much WR. White will be gone.

Agreed with you on O'Donnell. He's not very good.

If they bring back Robinson, Miller and Gabriel, they may be ok with Wims becoming that 4th WR.

Kicker is obviously a huge need.

I heard this segment and agree.

I'd say my biggest concerns are kicker, WR depth, and O Line. Not that O line was bad, but it's something that needs to be priority #1 every year...Mitch has no chance to succeed without solid o line.

On the offensive line, they will probably need to re-structure the Long deal. Hopefully, they can work that out. Massie would make sense to come back - he's not spectacular, but solid.

James Daniels just needs to get stronger, but he's locked in. Assuming Long is back, the interior of the line should be strong.

Probably need to keep adding depth/competition, but late round picks will make this difficult.

Did the offense only average 17 PPG this season (excluding all of the defensive touchdowns)?

I agree that the offense should be improved. I would like an offensive tackle to replace Massie and another guard added to the roster. I also would like to try and trade Howard for a high draft pick and bring in someone with both size and speed. They also need a proven tall wide-out or tight-end to be one of Mitch's go to guys. They really do not have a go to receiver on this team and that I this age is a necessity.

I don't get the O'Donnell hate - he had a very badly-timed shank, but overall, he's been pretty solid since he's been here.

So the Bears can add the Colts to the list of competitors for a kicker this summer.

If they traded Howard, they would be lucky to get a 4th round pick for him. I don't see many teams giving up a Day 1 or 2 pick for a good, but not spectacular running back who are highly replaceable.

The offense will take care of itself if Mitch takes it to the next level. Right now, he's played 1 full year and had too many ups/downs game to game and half to half.

I'm comfortable with the guards they have assuming they can re-do Long's deal. Daniels is here long-term.

They don't utelize Howard. If they could get a 4th Rd or better pick, go for it. Especially if they go get Hunt. Use that pick on depth.

I don't trade Howard unless I can get at least a high 3rd rounder for him.

No doubt. Is there a way to convert Cohen to a WR?

Cohen is fine where he is at. He can just be moved out to the slot in certain formations. Having him as the second rb is fine.

I was surprised. I trust their offensive line coach knows what he is doing, though. I still think that they need to bring in another tackle, though, as well as a guard.

Agree on more linemen. I feel though that they are in a position to be able to try to find lower round gems.

seems about 1 million per year richer than I thought he would get if the re signed him

I'm not sure they were going to be able to upgrade the position this year so I will take the consistency of having the same OL two years in a row.

I was amazed when I read that Massie did not have a holding call last year.

Ryan Pace has decent success finding linemen in the draft. I'm surprised he's dropping $8M on guy turning 30.

He needs to find a replacement for Long in this year's draft.
