Ltg, your team has lost their damn fool minds. This is one of the more bizarre things I’ve ever seen in sports.

Yep. I seriously don’t understand this. It’s thrown my whole evening off.

Spent 15 years with the team and supposedly is a staple in the OKC community. Team can do whatever they want.

Sure they can do what they want but it’s a fuckin joke and should be treated as such. This is embarrassing.

I can’t even think of what the Bulls equivalent would be. Kirk Hinrich was a million times better than Collison as a player.

I apparently do. This has fucked my day up. I keep googling different things assuming this was a joke tweet but it appears legit.

I thought it was crazy when Memphis retired Zach Randolphs number.....but Randolph is 100 times better than this dude...

Don't be surprised if the Heat retire Udonis Haslem's #. Hasn't done crap in the last 7 seasons.

I still can't believe the Bulls haven't retired Artis Gilmore's #.

He was the most comparable player in that twitter thread but he was way better than Collison and won a title with them. Would still be embarrassing as hell but this is on a level I’ve never seen before. I’m running out of adjectives to describe it. Just ridiculous.

The 76ers just this year are now deciding to retire Moses Malone’s number

Very amusing to see the different standards franchises have.

Could be just a case of a new-ish NBA city not knowing how to honor role players. The Bulls give these players coaching jobs or appointment them to GM for life. Every team has its own thing I guess.

Moses only played 3-4 seasons in Philly. His best years were in Houston. They won a title with him but he really wasn't there long.

There’s no question he’s more associated with Philly than anywhere else and had his best years there.

Oh I know. You have to realize its Oklahoma City; not much professional sports history there and maybe he's beloved by their fans.

Sure. Imo it does sort of reinforce their reputation as a minor market though. Something s minor league baseball team would do for Crash Davis or something.

"Fo' Fo' Fo'"

Not many people remember that '81 Rocket team he led to the Finals. Everyone remembers the '83 Sixers team. Better stats with Houston, more high-profile in Philly.

Maybe the OKC owner will convince the Veterans committee to get Collison in the basketball hall?
