Per B/R, leaning towards entering the 2019 NFL Draft. Hell yes let this happen

I believe it’s been theorized hanging out in a baseball clubhouse for 15 years may be more damaging to his beak.

Smart decision financially. He will be over 30 by the time he becomes an MLB free agent and the way baseball is going, he would never make what he will make as a first round draft pick in NFL.

Lots of talk already of the Cardinals trading Rosen and drafting Kyler Murray.

Bears should give AZ a call. Rosen might be a solid hedge against Mitch's expected regression.

Declare for the NFL and go the Jamarcus Russell route and be earthshatteringly bad and collect money from both leagues.

This would be great. The NFL has a much better compensation system.

I keep hearing that he is a first round pick. But I just don't see him being that great of a pro prospect. He's listed at 5'11", but he's probably more like 5'8" and it seems like his speed is his best asset and not really his passing ability (though he did put up good passing numbers). He should take the money if someone is going to give it to him, but, personally, I don't think he will pan out in the NFL.

He should play football. If he’s only playing baseball for the money and his heart isn’t 100% in it he won’t ever be the player he could be.

He should play football becauyhes guaranteed 50 million, he'd be lucky to guarantee half that in baseball.

If this was 25 years ago baseball would be the better play. He won't be a free agent until he is 30 at the earliest. Probably 31-32. Teams aren't paying for 32 year old free agents anymore.

Players make a lot of money thru arbitration. Mookie Betts is making $20M this year. Nolan Arenado will make $25M. If he believes in himself he’ll make his money.

Murray would get huge money then too.

If Murray is good at both he will make far more on football until his 30s. If he is bad at both he will make far more in football.

He can be bad or even suck and believe in himself and make fuckall in mlb compared to believing in himself and going to the NFL and making a ridiculously more amount of money.

He’s gonna be rich as hell either way. I’d play the sport I love more.

Starting QB and first round pick is a better paying job unless you become a top 20 player in MLB. If he was a WR likely to go in the 4th round or later, MLB would be better. He wont get to free agency until his early 30s in MLB and to take home huge arbitration numbers he has to become a top player in MLB. He can get a large NFL contract at QB being average.

For first round picks it is the NFL.

In general I would say the NFL too but it depends on the situation.

What was Samardzija projected to go, when he was a WR at Notre Dame? I thought a 2nd rd pick. Outside of that, not sure there are any good comparisons, unless you go to Bo or Deion.

Normally I’d say baseball no brainer. But given he is a QB and it seems that’s his first choice it makes sense. I have a hard time seeing him fall out of the top 10.

If he gets picked at 10, he is looking at 16-18 million over 4 years. The team holds his rights for a fifth year but I’m not sure what that translates to in salary/bonus.

If he falls to the 35th pick, he is looking at 8 million over 4.

It’s too easy to flame out in baseball. The league finds one combination you can’t adapt to and you become Courtney Hawkins.

Late first/early second.

He went 5th round to Cubs, but they have the screwy draft where your slot doesnt determine your salary. I think he got 5-6 million from the cubs. Basically equal to mid first round money to get him out of football.

And when his contract is up, he has made 120 million in baseball.

And he hasn't suffered any further brain damage.

I think you guys are really underestimating how bad the pay scale is for MLB players before 30. Mark Appel is going to end up with career earnings of somewhere around $7 million. Kyle Schwarber through four years has gotten $5 million and will be at $8 million after 5 years.

Roquan Smith just got $18 million guaranteed for four years and pretty much can't lose that. The Bears have a team option for year 5 but those are normally pretty good in terms of compensation.

If you are going to be good at football, and good at baseball, the odds are very small that you will surpass what you what have made in football by the time you are 30. Even Kris Bryant, who has been as good as you could ever project a young player to be, is 27 and 6 years into his career and at $19 million.

Now, after 7 or 8 years if you are the top 2 free agents when you actually get to do it, and the owners feel like spending the money you can get the mega deals but those deals exist in football too.

The only real reason to play baseball is that it doesn't destroy your brain.

If we assume he would have been similarly good in football, he's probably Santonio Holmes or Greg Jennings.

Holmes: $34 million
Jennings: $54 million

I'd say he made the right choice.

However, MLB is filled with 5th round draft picks that make almost nothing their whole careers.
