I agree. It's stupid. You have to understand the power of a crowd. Somebody starts this and everybody joins in.

Not all of these people are idiots.

It's like when they start throwing garbage in the Wrigley bleachers. A few people do it and then the sheep follow. Next thing you know everybody is doing it.

That's the power of a crowd. People don't have to think when they have others behind them.

Beardown put it fairly well. Mob mentality makes for some stupid behavior by otherwise rational people. Happens everywhere and, while that doesn't make it right, it does shed light on the stupidity.
