Daily Herald sports columnist Barry Rozner may be calling it quits after 10 years as a prominent weekend and fill-in personality at Entercom sports/talk WSCR 670-AM. Rozner told Mitch Rosen, operations director of The Score, that he does not expect to be back as host of “Hit & Run,” which airs from 9 a.m. to noon Sundays during baseball season. “We’re still communicating and we’ll see what comes of it, but I don’t — at this moment — see a path to returning,” Rozner said Sunday. “No hard feelings. No one to blame. There’s just no role there for me comparable to the last 10 years, when I hosted nearly 1,400 shows. If it’s over, I will miss ‘Hit & Run’ more than I can properly express. It was a great run and I’m grateful for the opportunity Mitch gave me.” Rozner has filled in for weekday hosts on The Score more often than anyone else, but he’s been passed over for promotion to a full-time position three times. Rosen, who was out of town, said he plans to meet with Rozner when he returns. “Barry has been a great team member on ‘Hit & Run’ and a terrific fill-in host loved by all,” Rosen said. “I hope he continues.”

Lol. Finally realized he was just a bottom bitch for the station. “Uh Roz, Mully has the sniffles, would you mind coming in today?”

So Rozner out and Speigel at a reduced role while McKnight and Haugh have prominent time slots. Poor moves by DeCastro.

A show called the Mutt and the Mute, featuring a French Poodle and an unable to speak Senior Citizen would be better than JDC.

Only redeeming quality was being the lone guy to challenge Bernstein, save for Matt’s trolling.

I hope he can work something out and stay. A pure joy to hear Barry Rozner do a solo show, or have a decent co-host. He always got stuck with the bottom of the barrel Joe O or Speigel. He's not an ass kissing boot licker like Parkins or Speigel when it comes to Cubs talk. His honest Cubs opinions I'm sure weren't welcome by management. He went after Maddon big-time for his world series blunders. He called in on his drive home after the final game and let loose on crazy Joe. If he goes that will be about it for honest Cubs talk on the score. Having Speigel as the scores baseball guy is an absolute disgrace and an insult to Chicago baseball fans.

Trying to pull a power play for more airtime by going to Feder.

I'm not seeing how this will play well with DeCastro.

You're right about McKnight, and I would want to see Speigel take a bigger role, but the station is better post DeCastro than pre DeCastro. Haugh is an improvement over Hanley, Mac is back, and the political/sjw talk is down to a minimum. Rozner was not bad on hit and run but he was incredibly annoying every place else. Speigel is a much better fill in guy and hit and run host.

He was decent and often had some good guests.

Also agree with Godfella about Spiegs.

Rozner should go to MLB Radio.

I agree that DeCastro has made more positive than negative moves since taking the helm. Getting rid of Goff and bringing back Mac were huge improvements. However, you could counter that the midday show is average at best while nothing on the station is better than the Speigel/Parkins combo that he broke up.

Not in the demo numbers. I'm baffled by it as well, but the midday show on WSCR did a 4.2 this summer in the demo compared to a 2.3 demo figure for WMVP in the same time slot. Chicago apparently loves itself some Milquetoast Smart Guy Sports Talk.

They don't like Rozner, they don't like Bernstein. One of them seems to hate a glorified update anchor.

I don't get it. How bad is the midday show on WMVP? I don't hate Bernstein and McKnight but I have gradually stopped listening to the show. Just seems that is always a better podcast to listen to.
