There’s nothing to dispute. He’s a cheap asshole and always has been. Hopefully he dies soon so 40% of our city’s franchises can start acting like professional franchises again.

Hes not cheap really. Hes spent money. Bad money. On bad guys. Hes way too goddamn loyal to idiots like Paxon. That guy shouldn't be anywhere near the front office. But hes Jerry's guy so he can be a fuck up for life and Reinsdorf is fine as paint with it. No hes not cheap, he just can't hire the right people.

Maybe. I can't explain Vinny or Cartwright. I think he paid Skiles and he was a good coach IMHO. But it's this Paxon thing that's fuckin this wh ok le thing up. It's not cheap reinsdorf its dumbass paxon. I dont think he keeps paxon because paxon is cheap to employ.

But yes I’m willing to entertain it’s not his worst quality as an owner or a person. He fuckin sucks.

Dude cheap was Bill Wirtz. You can't put Reinsdorf in that league. He paid his superstars. He paid them well.

I don’t even think that’s true. The Sox made it a point to lock up their young guys to team friendly extensions before it got to that point and the Bulls only had Rose in the last 20 years as a player deserving of a max contract. But like 312 pointed out, he’s always gone cheap on everything outside the salary cap and it shows. The Boylen embarrassment is inexcusable for one of the top revenue generating teams in the NBA and it’s likely to continue.

Like Dollar Bill, I expect great things to come for both franchises when he kicks the bucket. Would love to wake up tomorrow morning to the news.

Ok... serious question not trying to be a pain in the ass...
Does Jerry get involved in personel decisions or does he let his GMs handle it? I've heard he gets in on negotiations but I dont know if I really hear that or if as a Cubs fan I want it to be true.

I have no clue. I just know he’s the common link between letting failed front offices continue to be failures with no accountability

I'm sorry, I struggle with CFMB polls that don't allow me to vote for three choices.

Jerry is worse than cheap - he's satisfied. 6 Bulls championships and a White Sox World Series win - that's good enough. Now's the time to just rake in the cash.

WASP ownership = breaking 100 year old drought.

Tribune ownership = wasted potential

(((Tribe))) ownership = max profits/max goyim screwing/min wins

He's economical.

When he has to spend he will. But it's more often than not been on bad players.

He stays out of most personnel decisions and leaves that to the GMs.

He is loyal to a fault and that is by far his worst quality as an owner from a fan perspective.

This is the same thing I’d say about a friend if he was a cheap old bastard.

I don't think the luxury tax was around during the second three peat but he did spend a ton during those years if I remember correctly. I think he would have paid what was necessary if we got LBJ and/or of those Rose teams turned out to be serious contenders.

They suck now but I see this as a GarPax thing and not Reinsdorf.

How you explain the last decade of the Sox?

Trusted Kenny Williams too long.

Ch might have more informed perspective here but I think the amount Jerry is willing to spend on each franchise is relative to the potential for each to become a cash cow so to speak. Because the Sox traditionally suck and their revenue numbers suck as well, relative to other major market teams, there's no incentive to invest; on the basketball side, there is incentive to invest provided the proper ingredients on the floor are present. We've already seen the sales the Bulls can drive even when they're just fringe contenders, let alone legit contenders. If/when the Bulls get their act together they will have access to Reinsdorf funds.

Same problem with both team over a decade = owner needs to die then, right?

He was an amazing owner but something happened after 2005 that made him pretty complacent which explains his undeserved loyalty to certain guys.
