It's amusing that it took this long to realize home runs, three point shots, and deep touchdown passes are good and nerds had to be the ones to break the news.

You can use analytics in baseball because its really more of an individual performance sport. Football is really more about team ability, where analytics doesn't really help.

I mostly agree but analytics have driven the sport towards being more aggressive on 4th down, which was a much needed improvement from 10+ years ago.

We still see this in the NFL. Drafting gifted athletes but they're football retarded.

I think one of the few position where analytical evaluation is helpful is with QBs. Helps that the position somewhat resembles pitching where you can calculate throwing trends.

Plus changing the rules to help spread QBs transition easier to the league has certainly helped as well.

In Baseball I want the athlete every time. In football I want the athlete with the Neanderthal gene. Those two things can't be taught.

The issue with praising Dorsey is that the nerds were the ones who acquired most of the talent on the defense and the assets that he's been able to use. They were just fired instead of Hue Jackson because Haslam is an impatient busybody owner. Giving Dorsey the credit though is like praising Bryan Colangelo for the Sixers.

I'm simply praising the footbally-ness of the quote.

I have no opinion of Dorsey's job building the Browns. Though he's had past success with KC and GB.

Drafting Mahomes and Baker in back to back years is pretty nice for the ol’ resume
