We will have no starters.

For sure guys:

Quentin

Jenks

Maybe guys:

Dye - He has to have another good month

Vazquez - He's the Sox best starter and they are in first.

Linebrink- By the numbers he's the best 8th inning reliever in the AL. They always take one set up guy per year it seems.

Pierzinski - Not too many good catchers in the AL. He could be the back up to the Twins starter. A.J is having a slightly better offensive season than IROD. But IROD's Tigers are in last.

Floyd - Doubtful but he's up there in innings and ERA. Maybe he needs to get that no-hitter before they pick the team.

Contreras - If that spliter keeps biting he'll be on the team.

Danks - He actually has the best ERA of all the Sox starters. They don't score for him so he doesn't get wins.

I know the Sox aren't gonna get 4 starting pitchers on this team. Two of them could make it. We'll see how the next month goes. They're all competing against each other now. They are all just about equal.

As we stand today, we'd probably get, but I need to see more before I wager on that.

Quentin should be going as should Jenks as you mentioned. I think a starting pitcher, I'd choose Contreras, should also be going.

Given what he's done and despite his omission from the All-Star ballot, Carlos Quentin should be going to Yankee Stadium, as should closer Bobby Jenks & set-up guy Scott Linebrink. Then again, Major League Baseball has to get rid of the stupid rule that every team has to be represented, even if that team absolutely sucks!!! I dare anyone to find any true All-Star on the Texas Rangers, Kansas City Royals, Detroit Tigers, San Diego Padres, Colorado Rockies, Milwaukee Brewers, Cincinnati Reds or Washington Nationals among MLB's bottom feeders! If the team sucks, too bad! No All-Star Game for you!

Josh Hamilton? It seems like an obvious choice from a really bad team, but then again, the Texas Rangers have been really bad for a long time. He might be deserving, but that doesn't always mean he'll be selected to represent his team. I hate the rule that every team needs to be represented in the MLB All-Star Game, and I wish it could be abolished just like in the other major sports. While I think Carlos Quentin, Bobby Jenks and possibly Scott Linebrink should represent the White Sox in the Bronx for the "Midsummer Classic" in Yankee Stadium's last season, it's not a sure thing 2-time World Champion Manager Terry Francona from the Red Sox will agree, regardless of Quentin's omission from the ballot.

 Regardless of team or circumstance Josh Hamilton is making the All Star game this season barring injury.

Are you nuts shark?

Quentin is a lock. Francona will take him. Quentin is not only an all-star he's the leading candidate for MVP right now.

Shark, you're 0-2 on your Sox inputs from yesterday.

I can't believe I just saw someone say Josh Hamilton might be an all-star. He's only trying to be a triple crown winner. :aaargh:

OK, Ill bite:
Rangers - Kinsler, Hamilton & Padilla
Royals - Soria, Greinke
Tigers - Maggs
Rockies - Atkins, Holliday & Cook
Brewers - Braun & Sheets
Reds - Phillips, Volquez & Cordero (maybe Votto & Dunn)
Padres - Gonzales
Nat's - Guzman

At this point, the most "iffy" all star would be the representative of the A's.

Generally every team does have that true all star, even the shit teams. As bad as the Sox were last year, Bobby Jenks was most certainly an all star and deserved to be at the game last year.

The only one is Justin Duchscherer who has a 2.16 ERA

That's the one, unless Harden can staple a couple tendons together for 5 more solid starts.

If Duchscherer can throw another one hitter against a team like the BoSox he should be fine ;-)

He'll have to wait until August.
Bedard, on the other hand, will get another shot the weekend after this one

Add Joe Crede to the Sox All-stars.

No 3rd baseman in the AL has better offensive numbers. AROD will win the starting vote of course. AROD has been hurt so he hasn't been able to put up the big numbers.

Crede should go as the back up.

5 homers in his last 3 games for Joe.

Quentin and Jenks will likely be the only Sox all stars. Being in first place doesn't matter for an all star game. Especially when the division sports only 1 team-the sox, that does not have a losing record. There are a number of pitchers on the sox who are pitching well. But probably not well enough for the all star game. On the Offensive side, the only one who merits consideration besides Quentin, is Pierzinski. When you look at the catchers around the junior circuit, he ranks right up there. But he's the only other guy with a realistic chance.

I typed in Carlos Quentin's name on the official MLB.com All-Star ballot, even though he's been slumping as of late. I also checked the top All-Star vote getters, and it turns out, the Rangers' Josh Hamilton is NOT only on the ballot, but I think he's third, which likely means he'll be starting in the "Midsummer Classic" in the Bronx. If there are any other true White Sox All-Stars besides Carlos & Bobby Jenks, I'd have to think Joe Crede is worthy of a reserve spot, but I have a feeling Terry Francona will take his own guy, the Red Sox' Mike Lowell or someone else ahead of Joe. It's a popularity contest, beyond the fan voting for the "Midsummer Classic".
