What do you want him to say?

Ken Patterson refused to give up # 34 for Bo Jackson. Bo fêted him, and rightly so.

All Bo had to do was give ol KP a case of Grey Goose and he would have stitched it on his jersey himself.

How about pretty anything other than SS is mine?

Exactly what he should think...no problem with him having that attitude, but probably best for him to keep that to himself.

It would be hilarious tho if the Sox lose out on him because of them not wanting him to play SS. That would really help boost the Frank/Keyser rivalry

Either one of them can play average SS, maybe.

Nah, he's gotta say that publicly for his pride and so Machado doesn't think he's a little bitch, even if we both know that Machado will play where he wants.

I like it, he's a better SS than Manny and he knows it, everybody knows it. Machado needs to play 3rd base no matter who he signs with. Jeter wouldn't let Aroid play SS and Aroid was a better SS than Jeter. It's no good for the team to have divas.

 yes because Jeter to the Yankees is just like Anderson to the Sox

My point was that Jeter n Aroid co existed and won a ring even though Aroid was the better SS. Nobody thinks Machado is a better glove than TA.

Tim Anderson was given the starting SS position. He's never had any competition. If the Sox sign Machado and he wants to play shortstop, sorry "Timmay", but your ass is playing a different position.

Stated perfectly.
Tim Anderson has done nothing but earn himself the right to watch some Tom Emanski videos. He's a bench player on a WS team.

I don't know if I would go that far. He certainly has some offensive skills. His defense, while improved, is definitely not worthy of a premium position on a Championship team.

My overall point isn't that Anderson has earned nothing, its that he has not earned the right to be the starting SS over somebody of Manny Machado's ilk.

ARod wasn't the better shortstop. That's why he didn't play there.

Defensively ranked 10th on Fangraphs.
Offensively, he had 149 strikeouts, .240 Batting average, and a .281 OBP.

I'm sorry....he's not a starting SS on championship team. He's not a starting anything on a championship team.

I like Anderson not rolling over for Machado and having a little attitude about it . Good on him .

I disagree. What you're saying is like saying Jay Cutler is a better quarterback than Tom Brady based on his size, mobiliy, and arm strength.

ARod was sloppy in Seattle and Texas often tipping off hitters with his positioning. There's a reason the Yankees kept Jeter in the middle of the field and it ain't because the other guy was better.

I wonder if conditioning and projections of THEIR BODIES came into it. A Rod got fat by A Rod standards, Jeter seemed to maintain his girlish figure

You're the first person I ever seen with this BS, I'm gonna chalk it up to you not watching much Mlb outside the Sox. Jeter was one of the worst SS in mlb for over a decade, you've been duped and bought into the hype.

The organization thought it would be disrespectful to move him off Short.

That's not the entire reasoning and JORR's thing about ARod tipping pitches is legit.

Nothing surprises me about Aroid, he's been a disgrace to the game for a long time.. that doesn't change the fact he had a better arm than Jeter and much better range.
