PittMike, its funny that you mention this.

I believe you have posted a few times about losing a child. As a parent, I can't even imagine.

When Kid Post 2 was a day old, our doctors told us they thought he had a serious heart abnormality. We had to get immediate testing. Mrs. Post had a c-section, so Dad Post had to go to the testing. Here was my wonderful day old son have a chest ultrasound to determine if the brand new heart in his body was defective. The feeling of helplessness was overwhelming. No amount of money, love, effort, etc. on my part could do anything to help him. I would have traded hearts with him right there given the opportunity.

That story has a good ending for us. After about 8 months of pretty rigorous testing, and a lot of anxiety by the Parents Post, Kid Post 2 was declared to have a completely healthy heart. So many other families do not get that result.

As I thought about it, I slowly began to realize that other parents were out there like us, in similar but not exactly the same situations. There are parents out there who have children, and children of all ages (I don't think you stop being a loving parent if your kid is 40) who have a life threatening situations and for one reason or another are unable to help. So when I thought about doing this, I truly viewed this as donating my kidney to the parents of my recipient, wherever those parents might be.

So although the parents of my recipient aren't loved ones, I know we share the bond of desperately wanting to do anything for your child, yet being utterly and frighteningly unable to do so.

A lot of people who coordinated my transplant said that they have never encountered someone with the above mindset/motivation for donating, so I guess I'm a bit of an outlier as far as my thinking goes.

That's really pretty damned impressive One Post. That's one helluva way to pay it forward.

My former business partner (I actually said that in my best "JORR voice") 's wife, who kept our business books, had a liver transplant in 1994. She was one of three transplant recipients in our church- three different families who all received this gift of life in different ways. She survived 22 years with her new liver, an amazing time of marriages, grandkids, loss of her parents, etc, all made possible by a donor.

I've heard a kidney donor has the rougher recovery, I hope yours goes well!!

That is a very cool story. I completely understand it. Very selfless. My fear would be that after I gave one away another would need it. Not enough people feel as you did.

That's not stupid, stupid is what I did for 20 years b4 that ( tossed em in garbage) I'm rough on boots and 18 months is about as long as I can use em. These busters appreciate everything. I give em old sweatshirts, Sox n undies too now.

I was walking the dogs in Washington Park on Monday n seen 3 people camped out. After I tossed dogs in truck I told em I'd give em a ride to warming center .. they declined n told me the park will let em in if it hits zero. If they are there on Saturday I'll give em some old blankets. That's no way to live.

My youngest son runs around and randomly jumps and screams "BEARS" at everyone in the house. Lady Nas wants to stab me for it but it's my greatest accomplishment.

Well I wouldn't call the homeless busters but that's just me. I never said timbs... I was implying you could help more by giving them warm boots rather than some shitty ass redwings.

And no I am not retarded... but go on.

Oh yeah. These organs are gonna suck, for the most part they already do. I’m here for a good time, not for a long time.
