It kicks on. I hear the ignition the I hear that poof like it lights it stars to go then it dies. It's on for like 5-7 secs. Like everything goes how it's suppose to until the blower is suppose to go on.

I had the same thing happen and it was because there was a hole in the side of it that was a fire hazard. He actually said you could see the fire through it. The heater was about 20 years old but it had to be replaced. That sounds like whatever the thing is that makes sure it doesn't start a fire.

That's why I said you should call a professional.

What do you see when you take off the front panel?

I think yours is L shaped, so it would be horizontal with the tip going up into the open hole.

Not really sure how else to word that....

Turn heat off on T Stat and turn Fan on .. you'll know if the blower motor works.

I doubt it. The man likely barely has time to sleep. Darko has probably already worked 60 hours this week.

It does not. Thanks.

I think the pipes in my laundry room are frozen. I tried to do a load to keep the water moving but the tub. Won't fill. Hope they don't burst. It's not well insulated and on a slab. We are a mess here.

No. I've had our bathroom ones and kitchen ones dripping for a few hours though.

Yeah this is what I was referencing. I wasn't sure if it was true but thought I saw it mentioned in another thread following the Nas kerfuffle.

A hair drier might help if can get near the area that's frozen.

i had the exact same problem spaulding did about 2 weeks ago. i opened panel and watched it ignite only to have it shutoff a few seconds later... rinse repeat.... it finally did stay one one time but standing near the first vent it didnt feel like it was moving that much air.... So to confirm blower was OK i turned off heat and turned fan only on and the blower seemed to be working ok... so I took a guess that perhaps not enough air was getting to the unit from the intake at least in the opinion of some sensor.... and the sensor was telling the unit to kill the flame.

i ended up replacing the filter and it's been working fine since. i think my filter I chose is too allergy proof... and i am purely speculating on all of this.... the filter I replaced was only 2.5 months old and in my opinion not very dirty (ive seen and had ones WAY dirtier).

so tl:dr.... try a new filter if you havent already

edit1: rpb's guy's solution in post below this is probably what my actual problem is

My guy says dirty flame sensor. I replied asking him if a non professional could clean it or if it needs a new one. Will report back

Might be time to buy a few 1500 watt heaters, you can return them next week and get your cash back .

If it's this and you don't have a replacement filter you can always remove the filter altogether for a day or 2.

This site says cleaning the sensor is one of the rare things a layperson can do. Might be worth a shot.

EDIT: My guy is saying it's probably best to call a pro. If you or your husband are handy there are lots of instructions on line.

I know someone who had this issue and fixed it a few weeks ago. They replaced the sensor altogether.

I have to clean the flame sensor 3 or 4 times each year. I just take a kitchen scrub pad and rip off a corner of it and clean it and its back in action. When it gets all dirty only the pilot flame goes on, the electronic ticking goes on for like 2 minutes, then the fan goes on and then it just shuts down.

When you are watching the furnace try to work does the entire burner area ignite or is it only the pilot flame? That should tell you whether its the sensor or something else. If the furnace fully ignites then the sensor is working.

He's also been working 19 hour days, so maybe not in the mood to post. :)

Turn on your ac tonight for maybe 5 minutes. Its gonna be warm this weekend, and you want to call someone tomorrow morning before ot and holiday charges kick in.
There's two copper lines coming into your house from outside. A bigger one and a smaller one. Typically one is 3/8ths and one is 3/4 ot 7/8ths.
The smaller one should be bare. The bigger one might be covered with black insulation.

Feel them. Once running for a few minutes like maybe 5 minutes max the bigger one should be cold. Maybe around 40 to 55 degrees.

The little one should be maybe a couple degrees warmer than the outside temperature.
