One of the things I like about Collins is the pressing style of defense he generally advocates. I hope to see it with the Bulls. If they keep Deng, Sefolosha, Noah and Thomas, the Bulls will have several players capable of excelling at this style. Rose would be an ideal fit for this scheme, too.

I was thinking about this.

Doug isn't gonna take this job unless he knows who Pax is gonna take with this pick. You gotta believe that.

Doug strikes me as a guy that would want Rose. He would want that point guard. Don't you guys think so?

That's good news.

Thats why I wanted Thibodeau. Although in the playoffs they have been inconsistent, I love Bostons defensive schemes. When they are on, like Game 1 against Detroit, its absolutely suffocating. Collins is also very good in this area. Like I said, he is an excellent X's and O's guy. His knowledge of basketball philosphy is very high.

I broached this topic up thread. Collins is a certified Hinrich Ass-Licker, having said on multiple occasions that Hinrich is "on the verge of becoming an elite point guard". Does this mean he thinks he can rehabilitate Hinrich and will thus favor the selection of Beasley?

I'm more excited for the Tim Floyd era to reopen in 10 years.

The best part about Doug Collins is that he isn't Avery Johnson.

I think it's a good safe pick.

The future of the Bulls won't be decided by the next head coach. It will be whoever they draft and if that person meets the potential.

I hope so. Kirk is already under contract and may be hard to deal and Beasley would fill a need the Bulls haven't had since Cartwright left.

Do you mean Horace Grant? Cartwright wasn't much on the block. Grant was better.

There is a better chance that Beasley becomes a SF than a C. I don't know where you are getting the fact that he'll eventually become a C but I haven't really seen that anywhere else.

The Bulls dont need Beasley. They have a future 20-10 guy in Gooden once he realized his potential.

I dont know that Kirk will be too hard to deal. He'd be a great fit with a team like LA or Houston. Doesnt he only have 2 years left, or is it 3 on his deal? Besides before the season started it looked like $9M/yr wasnt bad for a player like him.

Shit. Doug just says that stuff when he comes into town to do 3 or 4 Bulls games. It's something you say when you're doing a game. He doesn't believe it. He knows better. He doesn't love Kirk. He's broadcasting to a national audience. He's got to hype the stupid Bulls game. He knows better.

Trust me. He'll like Rose better.

Well, Deng is clearly the best player on the team and Collins has never, to my knowledge at least, spewed that kind of crap about him.

By the way: Boers has been reporting since the lottery that his Bulls "peeps" are saying that there is no debate in the organization over who is the better talent; everyone, according to Boers, likes Rose over Beasley.

I still say you can have Rose and Hinrich. Make Kirk the 2 guard.

If Collins is the next coach, it will only be short-term. He is basically Scott Skiles with more emotion.

We saw how the players tuned out Skiles, the same thing will happen with Collins

Isnt he the same guy that "breaks" stories from the Tribune? I dont listen to the show often at all, I could be thinking of someone else.

Essentially, you're running into the same issue. An undersized guard that can't defend his position without getting into foul trouble.

That doesn't shock me cuz he clearly is the better talent.

So Durant is moving to Center next season? Your size has nothing to do with it, its all about your skill set. Beasley's skill set projects him to be a PF, and most scouting reports say if he does have a secondary positions, its a SF.

Hinrich really doesn't guard the 2 well. And he's not a very good scorer, either. But other than that, your plan sounds great.

Beasley will start as a SF. He doesn't have the body to bang with bigs, yet. Plus, he doesn't really have any back to the basket moves.

Yes, same thoughts. But hey, maybe they need a point B guy 'cause this isn't a point C team yet. Also, sounds like they were trying to bring him back whilst talking to D'Antoni (sp) and he was in no mood for someone waiting in the wings second-guessing him. Good for Doug, I think.

Kirk will have more energy to guard if he isn't the point guard. He is a willing defender. I think he gets those stupid fouls cuz he's tired.

I think, with Rose, Kirk will get more open jump shots that he can knock down.

He really does strike me as a small forward, too.

He was 6'9" and 235 going into college. At 18 he is going to grow some more and I'm sure the Bulls staff with have him in the weight room. He will probably get up to 250 or 260. A 6'10" or 6'11" player is a center in the NBA.

Why are you the only one who is projecting him as a Center? I haven't seen that anywhere. In fact, I've seen him called SF/PF a few times.

He'll be a PF in the NBA.

At the very least its nice to see people invigorated by the Bulls again, although if they come out flat it wont last. I would love to see the quality of basketball we are going to see tonight on TNT being played at the UC again in the next few years.

Depends on how well he can defend in the paint against the big boys. He has the offensive capacity for both positions.

I can certainly see that. One of the things that scares me about Beasley is that he currently looks like a "tweener" to me. Sometimes it works out really well but sometimes it just doesn't carry over.

I think a lot of it will depend on what team drafts him. If he gets drafted by the Bulls, I think they will want to get Deng at the 3 and let Beasley play the 4.

If he doesn't grow anymore, he probably is always a SF.

I would agree with your assessment. I also think it's a mistake to assume that he will continue growing. How much has he grown in the past year, if at all? Does anywone know? And what is his true height?
