Maybe they could play the 1984 game highlights, when the Cubs clinched in Pittsburgh, as the bumps today.

If I was the SCORE, I would immediately be using this in a negative ad campaign against MJH.

The entire thing is a joke Dolphin. I guess some of you don't quite get it. Jim DeRevolting added the line about MJH being next on the air in Pittsburgh. It was not in the actual article in the Pittsburgh media and of course, is not seriously being considered by them. Mac and the boys and some of us played along by posting Burgh thoughts. I guess you didn't get the joke. If the Score did that, the joke would most definitely be on them. For now, it's just on you and Rick. :P

If I had to guess, I would think that Rick was joking.

GD, you gotta watch that Jim DeR. He has a tendency to supplement his stories with clever, but imaginary, comments. He might get that technique from his molt brothers.

Mac mentioned your comment on the show today and it did lead to a clever retort from the Tiny one.

Mac: On the message board they are suggesting that the Score should use this in a negative ad campaign against MJH.

Harry: They've been trying that for seven years.

At the risk of excessively nit-picking, I would point out that Mazeroski's lucky poke, as it were, came in the 1960 Series. This Series, of course, is memorable in that the glorious Yankees thoroughly dominated same.

The Yankees, of course, returned to glory in 1961, thanks in large part to the regular season heroics of Mickey Charles Mantle.

I seem to remember someone else having an important year in 1961...but then again, I was not even an itch in my dad's testicle in those days.

If you're ever in Pittsburgh, Stone, you can relive this moment of inglorious Yankees history. Old Forbes Field is gone, but home plate and the piece of the left field wall where the homer went over are still in their original places..with plaques and photos commemorating their significance. Home plate is in the hallway of the first floor of the Pitt Graduate School of Business and the outfield wall is, naturally, a few hundred feet outside. It says a lot about the Pirates' own inglorious history that they still revere that moment more than any other in their history...48 years later. That's even worse than Bears fans who still hold on to 1985.

And why wouldn't we hold on to the single BEST season in professional football history my friends?

Can I still hold on to the 2001 Chicago Bears?

Jim Miller is the best Bears QB since Jim McMahon!

 Fair point Spaulding.

The Bears organIzation really has not done justice to the passion of the fans toward the 85 team. Most pro sports teams have statues of the alltime greats at their stadiums. Why is there not a Coach Ditka statue or a Walter Payton statue at Soldier Field? Maybe we should start a campaign.

My guess is all the statue companies in town have been busy designing the ones for Ernie Banks, Fisk, Minne Minoso, Haray Caray and the lot. The Nick Swisher statue has since been scrapped, so maybe that will free up some time for them to figure out just how to cast the proper Ditka stash in bronze.

They're a little busy designing the Carlos Quentin statue.

Maybe later...

They've got a 'wall statue' in honor of all the Bears greats inside Soldier Field. Don't you remember the big controversy because Mike Ditka wasn't included? I don't think they'd put a statue outside of Soldier Field, as it would diminish the fact that 'Soldier Field' honors fallen military heroes (which is all military personnel imho btw).

It doesn't surprise me that the McCaskey family would be weasels on this and that the Mayor would defer to the veterans. So if it's going to get done, it is apparently up to a private group of people not associated with the team or city to raise the money, negotiate and acquire the location, hire the sculptors and get er done.
