The story goes that Smollet didn't check out the direction that the on the street camera was actually pointed. He thought that he could get the fake "attack" caught on film with the color of his attackers covered up by the masks and caps that they were wearing. THis camera was his linchpin for credibility that the cops would take his attack seriously. Supposedly the three of them had practice runs for this "scene" that they were trying to film. When you think about it, this whole stupid thing could have worked if that camera was pointed on the area where they faked the entire thing.

THe other thing that really bothers me is the fact that until the Chicago police found those two Nigerian guys, that Smollet would have been set to identify ANY two white guys that the cops brought in as his assailants. This fucker is not just some naive punk kid. THis guy was a grown man who already was found guilty of lying to cops before in his DUI arrest. He is really a piece of shit.
