Me too. Germans really did seem to be taking to gridiron football. At least that way, guys who couldn't crack the NFL could go spend a year in Germany and make a life experience of it instead of the NFL-bridesmaid circuit of San Antonio, Memphis, Orlando, Virginia Beach, and anywhere else I forgot. Birmingham, I think every failed football league has had a team in Birmingham.

Even the CFL had a team in Birmingham during their ill fated but fun Southern expansion. That was my first year with cable and they would show a weekly game on ESPN2. I was a fan of Baltimore, who had lost the Colts, because I wanted to piss off most Canadians.

there's something to the fact that the uniforms not being NFL uniforms are an instant turnoff. perhaps they should mimmick the colors of pro teams and just change the logo's slightly... so they are close enough to trick our brains in to thinking its NFL
