My son is the only white kid in his grade, but did a decent Jesse Owens project for Black History month. Had an interesting life which reflected the times almost perfectly.

Love those old news reel films of him competing. The guy looked like he could fly. Very talented and gifted athlete for sure. I think Hitler refused to meet him after the competition?

Anyway, on a lighter note - we had a guy at work who we called Jesse Owens. He moved slowly and poked through the entire shift. However, after he punched that time clock at 4 pm, he looked like a Gold Medalist sprinting out that door through the parking lot to be the first one on the road.

A sincere "Attaboy" goes to little tommy, tommy.

Hitler didn't really "snub" Owens in the traditional sense, he just never meet publically with him. Owens did get a nice and proper Nazi salute from Hitler when he took his moment in the honor box.

My friend's kid is a real WOKE SOCIAL JUSTICE WARRIOR. Other than that he's a good kid. Several years ago his dad and I drove up to his university to drink with him on his 21st birthday. On the wall of his dorm room he had a big poster of the famous photo from the '68 Olympics with John Carlos and Tommie Smith raising their gloved fists. I asked him if he knew the names of the guys in the photo. He said, "One of them is Jesse Owens."
