Swisher really isn't an athlete. Yet he was able to have some mild success. His power is way down. It came down last year too.

If he can't hit the ball out he can't be in MLB. You accept a .250 hitting outfielder with 30 HRs. You can't have a .250 singles hitter, with no speed, for a corner outfielder. He's not even .250 for christ sake. Swisher won't be in MLB too much longer.

Sox are just gonna have to eat that contract. Maybe they can trade him if they eat some of that money. But you have to trade him in the off season before he sucks for 2 years in a row. Nobody will want him then. You still can find a sucker if you trade him after one bad year.

That's the whole point. 26-30 is your prime. He's 27. He is an experienced MLB player. No way this should be happening unless he was a juicer.

steroids =/= home runs, guys. kevin youkilis isn't a great athlete by any stretch, but his approach allows him to knock out a bunch of xbh each year. the problem is that the approach isn't everything, and when the approach fails - as it is for swisher, currently - it looks awful. just suck it up and wait this team out a few weeks. nobody's expectations were that high going in, so let's see what they're all about before we start accusing players of using steroids.

It's not about expectations for the Sox. I think they'll be in it. I've said that. I think they'll be in it despite Swisher sucking. He's gonna have to sit shortly and Anderson will play.

rule 1 for major league hitters is the ability to crush a 90mph fastball, no matter your size. i understand where you guys are coming from but you're definitely oversimplifying the effects of steroids / "withdrawal," which has all been hashed over so many times it's not even funny.

Kenny fucked up in the offseason. The only guy he brought in to help a bad offense was Swisher, and Swisher wasn't that good to begin with. I think Ozzie does have a reason to call out Kenny, but he should of done it in private.

Bringing Fields up is the best thing the Sox could possibly do at this point, right before trading Konerko or Thome. I have been done with Konerko for the past two seasons, mainly because the man is quickly becoming the next Frank Thomas of this team (striking out or ... well... striking out).

Overall, the team is still in very good shape. I don't see Cleveland or the Twins making a huge push anytime soon, and the Sox can only get better. All about peaks and valleys, gentlemen.

His biggest mistake may have been holding onto Konerko if the Angels were indeed interested in the off-season. Now, he can veto any trade.

I disagree with you. Alexai Ramirez is starting to swing the bat pretty well and is a good defensive player at 2B. That could end up being a great signing. Also he assembled one of the best pitching staffs in MLB and gambled correctly that we wouldnt need Garland. He also fixed the bullpen. The Swisher trade looks bad right now, but you swing and miss every once in awhile. Theres still alot of baseball left, but so far I would label it a successful offseason for Kenny.

Swisher was plan E or F for KW. He messed up well before Swisher. Plan A, Torii Hunter. Plan B, Fukudome.

Either of those two would have looked sweet right now. I said it at the time, I would have just given Hunter the extra money as this was the man you targeted for six months. The deal was out of line, but Hunter was essential.

On the other hand, calm down sox fans. It's just past the 1/3 mark in the season, the team is in first place and this weekend was the first set of consistently warm days all year.

I'd rather Brian Anderson out there everyday with his .235 average than give an aging Hunter all that money.
