He is going to be missed the first time you turn on the TV and see T.Anderson at SS and Eloy in the minors.

I agree with both thoughts. Moncada will be a plus player this year.

Well, if Cease and Eloy and Moncada pan out . . . they would be part of it. And Kopech eventually.

I dunno. They sell it like this is supposed to be 1990 or 2000, but I haven't seen much at the MLB level to tell me there's a core there--or enough of a core there--that can win. Gonna have to be lucky or shrewd with some trades or FA signings.

That's my point. I don't see a core. A couple busts like Anderson and Moncada and some hurt pitchers?

Yep. I am sort of agreeing with you. But hoping I am wrong. I tell ya what, the real truth is that I am having anxiety attacks about the next few seasons.

I think the Sox management themselves is wondering who the core is. They are probably hoping that a few guys make some big forward progress this year because if they don't....yikes.

Anderson right now is not any kind of a bust. He is a legitimate MLB player. And I think Moncada will be a definite all-star. His bottom, I believe, is as another legitimate MLB player. I wish I had the same hopes for the bozos that they have in the outfield. Maybe the future looks okay with Robert and Jiminez but all I know is that the guys that they have now suck big time.

Yeah if we’re hoping the 4th pick in the draft becomes Ryan Theriot I have a real hard time calling Anderson a bust.

I see it just the opposite. I think at least a couple of those outfielders will be fine. I just can't see Moncada being an impact guy on a corner and he clearly can't play second well enough to stay there. Anderson gets on base less than 30% of the time. That's dreadful.

Theriot's BA was higher than Anderson's OBP.

Tim Anderson might not be a "bust" per say, but as he sits right now he is also not a guy you can have a shortstop for 140+ games on a playoff team. If his defense and/or his OB% does not improve drastically, the Sox have to be ready, able, and willing to move on from Timmay.

Ok, but according to WAR Theriot never had a season as good as Anderson's last year.

Well, defensive WAR is a questionable concept. I would hope Anderson turns out to have a better career than Theriot, but it doesn't look like he can get on base at all.

He hit 20 HRs last year, which is part of that. But he also lead the AL in errors.

Anderson should get up on the plate and try to jack every pitch out of the park. couldn't get any less effective.

I was mocking the the notion. No one. Other than Eloy, who we have never seen the guys who have shown the most are pitchers. And in 7 years who knows what they will look like. There is no core. Only highly rated prospects.

Really expected Eloy to tear the cover off the ball this spring and make everyone want to see him on the team to break camp. He is probably pressing too much.

When we took our Cubs trip to San Diego (Petco), we had an extra ticket from someone backing out. We just scalped it outside the stadium. So of course the guy that bought the ticket from the scalper is sitting next to us. He looked like something out of the 70’s right down to the facial hair and retro jersey.

In any case, the stadium had some promotion where you could buy five food items for $5. Most people would do that if they were with some buddies or a family. But this loner brought all of them back to the seat. It was something like a candy bar, hot dog, pop corn, pretzel, and I don’t know what else. He sits down and proceeds to lose control of his five items and drops them onto the concrete floor. The look of disappointment in his eyes was evident, but at least it only cost him five bucks. Plus the candy bar could be salvaged as it was wrapped.
