Barry Bonds is not playing anywhere right now. Nor is Sammy Sosa. How would you feel if the Sox signed one of these guys?

Sosa would be no better than Thome anyway. Plus he's just another slow, low average righty.

Bonds would be better than Thome but do you really want that ass hole on the team? No. You don't.

Absolutely no chance, although Don Fehr & the MLB Players Association are said to be looking into why Barry Bonds has zero interest. I think I have an idea why Bonds isn't getting one offer since he left San Francisco, and I think it has to do in part with the allegiations concerning steroids, the ongoing BALCO probe and lying to a grand jury. Sammy Sosa has also been linked to the "s" word as well, and wasn't doing much in Texas before he got benched & eventually released. Sosa has hinted retirement after next spring's made-for-ESPN "World Baseball Classic". The only other name I've heard is journeyman Kenny Lofton, but his best days are well behind him.

i would take bonds, but not sosa. i would only take bonds under the condition that he is free and clear of any legal appearances or issues, though, which just isn't the case. i think that's got to be the biggest hold-up here.

He has a Federal trial coming up. I'm not sure when it is. I think they pushed it back recently.

Im in the big minority here but I like Bonds. I wouldnt mind having him on the team but theres no chance either of them land on the Sox this year I dont think.

I would consider going after Lofton though, but I hear he's asking much more than he's worth.

I'd investigate Bonds but not Sosa. My guess is that Barry's minimum is too high though.
