in a package deal that would give up the #1 pick, but get the #2 pick?

I dont get your question. Theres no way we are getting Wade and the number 2 pick back in any deal.

I would give up the number 1 pick and more to get Wade however.

my question is in response to the following quote from an article on chicagosports.com:

Quote:
Dwyane Wade says he keeps hearing his name mentioned in trade rumors involving the Bulls and Miami Heat.

Would the Bulls give up the No. 1 draft position to the Heat in exchange for Wade and the No. 2 overall selection? Or some combination of other players and picks?

"I have heard my name being talked about, and I can't worry about it," Wade said Monday at the Attack Athletics training facility on the West Side. "There is one thing in this league that you have no control over. If another organization wants you, then you should feel good to be wanted."

Oh. Yes, I'd be friggin ecstatic if we got Wade. I think alot of his injury last year was precautionary due to them being something like 8-40 at one point. I think he'll be 100% next year and be one of the 5 best players in the league. I'd give them the number 1 pick in a heartbeat straight up, and if they wanted to swap the picks and still give us Wade, I'd give them any 3 players on our roster if thats what it took.

Me too FF.

I feel like I keep up with all the rumors out there about the Bulls and especially about this pick. This is the first time I have really heard anything about Wade. What is Wade hearing that we arent?

I dont know. I havent really followed the rumor mill on that, mainly because Pax is like the opposite of Kenny Williams. He's terrified of making moves and is a pretty conservative GM. I'd be shocked if he pulled off a blockbuster trade this offseason.

If we got Wade, and one of the top 2 picks, I think for the first time in my life I'd cry tears of happiness. Pat Riley is not that stupid. If we just got Wade straight up I would be thrilled also though. We would instantly be a contender and have enough assets to do a 2-1 or 3-1 and get him another all star like Brand too.

I dont really expect anything to come of it either, but it is pretty interesting.

I would LOVE to be able to come out of this thing with D. Wade along with Beasley.

Unless Chris Wallace or Isiah replaced Pat Riley I cant see a scenario in which that is possible.

Dont be a stranger to the hoops sections RFDC, we could always use more hoops heads around here.

Didn't realize that Wade hangs out at Grover's new compound. To answer the question... No. To explain... Wade is too busted up, the Bulls are a few years away from putting it all together. By the time the Bulls are ready to make a run Wade might be on titanium hips and knees. I'd rather take Rose, let him grow, wait for Lebron's deal to run out in 2010, maybe pick up some good guys along the way. Plan the roster keeping in mind that there might be a point when they would need a carrot to dangle in front of Cleveland's decision makers when they realize that LJ is looking to become a FA.

Im very certain if Lebron ever leaves Cleveland it will be for the Nets or Knicks. I think it would be foolish to ever make a personell decision in the next 2 years based on the hope he would come to Chicago.

Also if we could trade the pick right now straight up for Wade, this team would compete for the Eastern Conference championship next season. Thats not including the scenario of Pax then trading a 2-1 or 3-1 for an All Star, which he has the assets to do and seems like the logical decision. If we have a chance to get Wade and dont have to give up more than the top pick, I think its very foolish to decline that offer. I dont buy the "He's the new Penny" talk.

I don't see the Heat trading both the #2 pick and Wade to move up just one more spot and bring on some guys from a disappointing team.

Me either. I respect Pat Riley's basketball acumen too much to take this rumor even semi-seriously.

No to D Wade. But I would trade Hinrich, Deng and Gordan for the #2!

In a second I would. The NBA is a superstar league. The best teams have 2 superstars.

I really look forward to getting Derrick Rose, but Beasley and Wade is better in my opinion.

I don't know why Miami would think about doing this though, unless they think Wade is gone in free agency as soon as he can be.

Im positive that if we somehow trade for Wade we wont retain a top two pick, but again I would be totally cool with that. I understand why some people would be concerned with the Penny injury paralells, but I dont think theres any reason to believe he will have an injury plagued career based on the past two seasons alone. We'll know more after this season. Wade showed me all I need to know about his ability as a leader and champion in the '05 and '06 playoff runs. Barring injury he'll have whatever team he's on contending for the next decade.

Think he'll have a Penny like demise due to injuries? Other than that I cant even imagine why you wouldnt want him.

Yes, precisely why. I agree with Coach- say they essentially swap the pick for Wade, maybe get back another minor player or toss-in. I just don't feel that lineup is a championship caliber lineup. To me it would be a team that would make it to the semi-finals, maybe, at best. The only way I'd do it is the (unlikely as has been mentioned) scenario in which we'd get Wade AND Beasley. I'm not just not too high on Beasley. I don't think he's going to be a Tim Duncan. I'd much rather roll the dice with Rose and try and move some of the other pieces and get as young as possible. I guess that's where I differ with some- I'm all for and encourage a total rebuild here. There are a few pieces here and there I wouldn't mind keeping but as much as I could possibly move- I would.

I think if we swapped the pick straight up for Wade we have the pieces necessary to pull in another all star in a trade or sign and trade, say Elton Brand for example. If we get Wade and another All Star via trade I think thats better than Rose + current roster not just now but for the future too.

I still think Deng can be salvaged and Wade + current roster might not need a whole lot of tweaking to be a contender, but Im pretty high on Wade as a player.

Wade, Beasley, Deng compare favorably to every team in the conference except Boston.

I'll continue to beat my drum that Luol Deng still has the potential to be a very good second or third option. I see no reason why he can't play the Lamar Odom role.

I'll take Wade, Beasley, and Deng over every top 3 in the east besides maybe Boston and I feel that Boston won't be around very long. Ray Allen already looks washed up.

I would not trade Wade straight up for the number one pick as much as I love Dwayne Wade. You can build a team around Wade, Beasley, or Rose. Only one of them has injury concerns right now.

I'm also the same one that predicted that Rose-Wade becomes a top 4 team in the east immediately if the Bulls go with Beasley at number one so I clearly have a Dwayne Wade bias.

While your last setence is true, we don't KNOW Rose or Beasley are franchise guys or could lead a team to a championship. They could very well be busts. If healthy, we KNOW Wade is a franchise guy and can be the best player on a championship team.

I never said we KNOW they are franchise guys. I said you can build a team around them. You better believe that the Bulls are going to build the team around Beasley or Rose. Every personnel decision will be made because of them. Whether it works or not is a different story, but a team will be built around them.

I get a little scared with how Dwayne Wade plays. He takes a lot of punishment. It's not as bad as Allen Iverson, but he still does.

I know you didnt say you KNOW they will work out, but thats my point. We dont KNOW anything about them at the pro level. Of course you are gonna build your team around one of them, just like you would build it around Wade if he was here. My point is one of the three is a proven leader and champion, the other two are maybes.

Even if they wanted to - how would the Bulls take on Wade's salary in a straight trade for the #1 pick? Obviously the Bulls would have to include another player or 2. How does Hughes salary compare?

I didnt even think of that. Hughes salary would pretty much make it happen but there's no way the Heat are taking his contract back. We'd have to sign and trade at least one player.

Sign and trade wouldn't make a difference because that player would be a BYC player. I could see the Bulls sending Drew Gooden/Kirk Hinrich/Ben Gordon/1st pick to the Heat for Wade/Mark Blount/2nd pick. The salaries work and this deal would work for both teams especially if Miami doesn't feel Wade will resign. They would free up some cap space and accelerate their rebuilding process. I still believe it would make more sense for Miami to trade the second pick.

I think Pat Riley is way too smart to make that trade.
